Veronica burst through the doors of the hospital only to find Betty and Archie in the lobby. To Archie, Veronica asked "Where is he?" Archie looked down. "Room 207. But we can't go inside" he answered. Betty was awkwardly standing behind him pretending to be on her phone. Veronica sighed and then walked down the hall to 207. "Excuse me, Miss!" a voice called behind her. Veronica ignored it and opened the door slowly to reveal a sleeping Jughead. He was attached to a few tubes and he had a cast on his left leg, but he looked alright. Veronica walked towards him, sat down and thought. This is all my fault, she thought. I should have never sent him away. Veronica, right then and there knew the honest truth, she loved Jughead Jones. But deep down inside she knew that she was wrong for him. Jughead was the purest guy she had ever met, and she didn't want anyone else in the world to hold in her arms, but she wasn't the girl for him. Veronica was too focused on her thoughts to realize that he had woken up. "Veronica" he said, quietly. "Shh" she said. "Don't talk." The doctors came back into the room and pushed Veronica into leaving the room.
Hours passed, and nobody had heard anything about Jughead since Veronica was in the room with him. Veronica, Archie, and Betty were sitting patiently in the waiting room. Jughead was awake, which made Veronica smile. "What are you so happy about?" Betty snapped. Veronica sighed. "I'm just happy he's okay" she answered. Betty laughed. "Of course you are" she said. This caught Veronica's attention. "What does that mean?" she said, slightly louder than she should have. "It's just that, you haven't done a single good thing for Jug since you've met him." Betty answered. "Listen, you don't know what you're talking about Betty" Veronica sneered. "Alright that's enough!" Archie yelled. Veronica stood up, her anger at the both of them building up in her mind. "Stop Archie! I though that I meant something to you. I even thought about our future, getting away from my dad and living happily in New York." Veronica couldn't even believe the words she just said. "I loved you Archie, and you-" she sniffled. "You broke my heart." Veronica could see the hurt on Archie's face as Betty scowled at her. "I have to go. Call me when he gets discharged" Veronica said, as she ran out of the hospital.
As Pop brought over her milkshake, Veronica thought about what she had said earlier. Did she really love Archie? She tried to imagine their future together. In every sequence, they were happy. Was Archie the one? Every relationship has bumps, maybe this was theirs. She needed to call him, speak to him, tell him how much she loved him. But, before Veronica could call Archie, she heard the bell chime as he walked in. It was her redheaded first love. Veronica got up from the booth. Archie spoke, softly. "Veronica I'm so sorry. I ended things with Betty. I love you and I need you with-" Veronica stopped him. "I love you too" she soothed. And she kissed him. And she was happy, happy to be back in the arms of her knight in shining armor. And although Veronica Lodge was the happiest girl in the entire universe, she felt a stinging feeling deep down inside like what she was doing was wrong. And although she wasn't dating Jughead, it felt as if Veronica was cheating on him. But, despite the mixed feelings surrounding the serpent prince, she felt safe with Archie. And that, is the honest truth.
