Chapter 17

     Partying with the Southside Serpents was something Veronica Lodge never saw herself doing. As the music blared, Veronica's dancing skills seemed to attract the attention of some teenage gang members who she simply ignored. After all, there was only one bad boy she had her eyes on. Shit. Veronica shook Jughead Jones out of her mind. She was with Archie, and had to stay loyal to him. Not that he was loyal to her. "Ronnie!" Toni yelled, pulling her away from the arms of Sweetpea. "Yes, TT?" Veronica asked. "Jughead wanted to talk to you, behind the stage" Toni said. Veronica gave her a confused look. "Just go!" Cheryl said, pulling Toni away from their conversation and into a heated make-out sesh.
Veronica turned around, and walked up the steps of the bar stage and pulled the curtain away, revealing a shirtless Serpent prince. "You wanted to talk to me?" Veronica asked, trying to avoid being turned on by the hottie in front of her. Jughead got up from the stool he was sitting on. "I haven't gotten to see you all night" he said, moving closer to V. Veronica smiled. "You see me now, don't you?" she said, teasing him. Jughead smirked. "Why am I here?" Veronica asked him. He sighed. "I don't know Veronica. There's something that told me I needed you to be here." Jughead moved closer. "You're with Betty" Veronica said, stepping back. "You're with Archie" Jug answered. "I made a mistake Ronnie" He said. Veronica gave him a confused look. "I fell for the wrong best friend."

     "What happened in there?" Toni asked as Veronica fled from the stage. "Nothing" she replied. "Let me drive you home!" Toni offered. "I'll call, it's fine." Veronica answered, leaving the bar.

     The next morning at school, Veronica sat, tired, in Biology. "Alright class! For the next two weeks are doing a partner project!" Mr. Greene announced. Archie looked straight to Veronica. "Of course, I've already selected your partners." Mr. Greene said, beginning to list partnerships. "Archie Andrews, Antoinette Topaz. Ethel Muggs, Josie McCoy. Fangs Fogarty, Elizabeth Cooper. Jughead Jones, Veronica Lodge." Of course. Veronica locked eyes with Jughead, who was smirking. No. She gave him a look. "You can begin working on your projects now." Mr. Greene said. Jughead sat down next to Veronica. "Hey Princess" he said. "No. This is strictly schoolwork" Veronica insisted. "Of course it is. Your place after school, 6ish." Jug said. Why does he get to make plans at my house? Probably because I turn to jello around him. Veronica thought. "Fine." Veronica said. "Study hall the rest of the hour!" Mr. Greene said. Veronica sprung up from her seat and left the classroom, leaving a stunned Jones in the biology room.

     That night at 6ish, Veronica Lodge was setting out snacks in her den, preparing for her study sesh with the Serpent Prince. As the doorbell rung, Veronica sprung up from her chair, too fast perhaps, that her skirt snagged on their couch and ripped up the side. Jughead began to continuously ring the bell. "Just a minute!" Veronica called, frantically running around wondering what to do. "Come on Lodge!" Jughead yelled. She ran to the door, pulling at her skirt, hoping to help the situation. When she opened the door, Jughead's eyes opened widely. "Hey" he said. "This is not what you think" Veronica said. "Sit down, I'm gonna go change" she said, running down the hall. Jughead sat down, making himself at home. He waited for a few minutes, snacking on the apples Veronica had neatly cut for them. A few moments later, when Veronica made her way down the hall, Jughead was stunned. Her raven hair was pulled up into a high ponytail, that perfectly suited her black body suit layered with grey sweatpants. And damn, did she look good. "Why don't you dress like this every day? You look sexy." Jughead said, practically wiping his mouth. Veronica laughed. "Always dress to impress, Jones" she replied. Then they sat down to work.

     Later that night, Veronica awoke to the sound of her father's voice. "Daddy!" she exclaimed. As she opened her eyes, she saw she had fallen asleep in the arms of the Serpent Prince. "Hello mi hija. I see you are becoming close with Fp Jones' son" Hiram said. Jughead snickered. "Just working on a school project." Veronica said, nervously. "Well, I wanted to see one of your friends Veronica." Hiram said. Veronica looked lost. "I wanted to see if you would like to go up to Shadow Lake with Archie, Betty, and Jughead for a weekend at our family lodge?" Hiram offered. "That sounds amazing. I am sure we would all love to go" Jughead said. "I don't know-" Veronica started. "Great. Then it's settled. Friday night you can all go up to Shadow Lake and spend the weekend" Hiram said. "But it's Thursday" Veronica started. "So you'll leave tomorrow night" Hiram said. "Sounds great" Jughead exclaimed.
