Veronica awoke to the sound of a text message. She opened her eyes slowly and reached for her phone on her nightstand. |Call me| It was from Jughead, along with two missed calls. Veronica put her phone down and sighed. She climbed out of bed and changed out of her pajamas. She made her way over to her vanity and picked up her signature pearl necklace. Ping. Another text message. |Talk to me| Veronica could not deal with Jughead right now. Tonight was opening night, and she needed to focus. She had too much going on, and wasn't even close to being over Archie. She closed the clasp on the back of the necklace, grabbed her script and left. She walked past her parents who were sitting and eating breakfast, out the doors of the Pembrooke, and into Andre's car. Veronica pulled out her phone and began to type. |I can't do this right...| and then she backspaced. She couldn't bear sending Jughead a single text, he was too much for her at the moment. Plus, she would never stoop as low as Betty and date her best friends boyfriend. When they pulled up at RHS, Veronica stepped out of the car and ran quickly to AP Geometry, trying her best to avoid running into Jughead. She made it there safely, and sat down next to Reggie. "Hey Veronica?" he asked her. Veronica wiped her eyes and turned to Reggie. "Are you alright?" he asked. Veronica shrugged. "I just lost Betty, Archie, and probably Jughead in one week. I'm not great" she poured. "Sorry, you know I'm here" he answered. Veronica smiled and then turned her attention to Professor VanKampen.

As Veronica was warming up, she felt a familiar scent come and stand behind her. Archie. She turned around and looked him straight in the eyes. He opened his mouth "Ronnie, I just want to say that I'm so sorry. I don't-" "I don't need this right now" she said, and walked past him and out of the dressing room. "1 minute to curtain!" Fangs called out. Veronica stood behind the curtain, waiting for it to rise. Betty came up next to her, looking happy as ever. If Veronica could have left, she would have. But, for the sake if the musical, she would have to stand next to Betty for the next 1 hour or so. As the curtain rose, Veronica felt butterflies in her stomach. The lights shined onto Betty and her, making her smile. And, as Veronica sang the very first line of the opening song, she was happy, truly happy.

After intermission, Veronica had just sung her solo (she killed it) and was waiting to go on for the finale. Alice was angelically singing on stage when she suddenly heard shrieking coming from the audience. All of the cast ran onto the stage to see a bloody, lifeless, body, stabbed in the heart. Midge. Veronica felt her insides collapse. She screamed and ran off the steps of the stage. Jughead, who was panicking trying to find Betty, ran right into Veronica. "Veronica!" he exclaimed and pulled her into a hug. She hugged him back, still frightened. "We have to go" he said, grabbing her hand and leading her out. And then and there, Veronica Lodge felt safe.
