Chapter 10

     "And that's how we found him" Betty explained, telling Veronica and Archie all about her father's mystery life as the blackhood. "Your dad shot my dad?" Archie said, slightly defensive. "I'm sorry" Betty said. Archie sighed. "It's okay Bets" he soothed, hugging the blonde. Veronica, feeling like a third wheel on her own boyfriend, left Archie and Betty to chat on his doorstep and climbed into the car she had stolen from her father. When she arrived at Cheryl's, Toni greeted her at the door. "We were just about to drive over to the Whyte Wyrm" Toni said. "You can come too Veronica" Cheryl chimed in. "Sounds great" Veronica replied.
     "So this is it" Toni said. Veronica looked through the glass door to the bar and sighed. "Some days you just have to stick through it" Veronica said. Toni opened the door for V and Cheryl and followed them both inside. "Veronica?" Jughead yelled. "What the hell are you doing here?" Veronica sighed. "Stopping you from getting yourself into more of a mess" she answered. Sweetpea stepped up. "What is this Northsider doing here Jug?" He yelled. "She was just leaving" Jug answered. "No she wasn't" Toni replied. Veronica smiled. "Jughead you know damn right that Northside Princesses are the last thing we need" Sweetpea yelled. "Stop it!" Toni screamed. "STOP" a bellowing voice yelled. Fp Jones. Shit. "I just got a call from the sheriff's office. Fangs is dead" he said. Veronica felt her eyes begin to water. Jughead stepped back from the group. The serpents angry faces began to melt. "And from what I just heard, we need to take a vote. All those in favor of going to war with Penny and the ghoulies?" Fp asked. One by one, the serpents raised two bent fingers in the air, resembling a snake. All except Jughead, who picked up his phone to make a call outside of the bar. Veronica didn't want to be there for the fight, and grabbed Cheryl's hand and left. Toni followed behind them. I guess she didn't either. When Veronica reached home, sleep came quickly. And she lay, thinking about the black haired serpent.
     Ring. Veronica opened her phone to a call from Jughead. She had just finally begun to stand up to her father, and could really use hearing him right now. "Hey" he said through the phone. "Hi" Veronica answered. "I am so glad to hear your voice" Jughead said. "Me too I-" Veronica was cut off by Jug. "I love you, Veronica Lodge. I'll never stop loving you" Jugheads words hit deep into Veronica's heart. "Jug, where are you? What are you doing?" She asked. "I gotta go" he said, and then hung up the call. Veronica wondered what he meant. "I've gotta get Betty and Arch" Veronica told her mom, already leaving the house.
     "And then he said I gotta go" Veronica told Betty and Archie, leaving out Jugs "I love you". "Penny!" Betty exclaimed. "He turned himself in" Archie yelled. "We've gotta go" Archie said, getting into his car. The two best friends climbed into Archie's car and drove off to find their missing piece.
