In the cradle, a child cries as a car pulls out into the night.
She's sucking her thumb, cause its all she's got left.
Holding onto herself, cause there's nobody left.
Pain is drained from her face.
As I approach, hard to say whose the ghost.

I'm not gonna say child, it will be okay.
I'm not gonna say lil' girl this will all go away.
I'm just gonna say what I need to say, what you need to say.

Tonight will never be alright, nothing will ever be the same,
Nothing will ever be okay,
But don't you cry, lil' girl you're gonna be just fine.

She'll tell you the devil fed him lies, and he'll tell you nothing all the time.

And everyday will be a new sting of blame.
When the sun comes to rise, it will be the dawn of suicide.
But, lil' girl this is not your cross to bear, not your price to pay.
This is their's and only their's.

So watch those thoughts, watch 'em close.
Cause lil' girl, here and in here,
Your much stronger than you know.

When it comes to it, I'm just staring at a ghost.
A haunt of used to be, just staring back at me.
She fades away in memory, almost entirely.

Can't go back to then,
that dark place I resided in,
that child in the crib.
