I let out my claws, "let's go." Something was off. I could feel it. Why would they bring Ro here?
Hank nodded and left the danger room. I followed after him knowing that if there was a battle ahead, we all needed to stick together. "There's so many of them Logan. I don't know how we're going to do this," he said worridely.
"Killing these Bubs'll be easy," I said angrilly. "We can't fail with Ro's life on the line Hank, so we've got ta figure out their weaknesses." The idea of us losing invaded my brain and wouldn't stop nagging on my mind as we made our way to the mansion's courtyard.
Everyone was dressed in their XMen uniforms when we arrived. From where I was standing, I could see the facility's army aproaching. "Intimidating isn't it?" Scott asked from beside me. There had to be hundreds of mutants coming to attack us.
I shook my head, "nah, they're just trying to puff out their chest so they'll look stronger than they are." Even I had a hard time believing what I said, but we needed to remain confident in our abilities if we want to win. "Where's Jean?" I asked when I notied that she wasn't beside Scott like she usually was.
Scott scratched the back of his head nervously, "we didn't want to tell you guys this early, but since there's this battle she can't be a part of, I guess we have to tell." He looked at me nervously which spicked my curiosity. Scott's usually not nervous about anything. "Jean's pregnant," Scott said quickly.
A grin spread across my face, "good for you Scott. How far is she along?" I know Scott's been wantin' a kid for awhile, so I'm happy for the pair.
"Two months," Scott said. "I just hope all this stress she'll be feeling won't hurt the baby."
I chuckled, "don't worry, if the baby's half as stubborn as you, it's gonna stick around for the long run."
"Attention all XMen!!" Xavier yelled. Everyone went quiet to hear what he had to say. "We are about to face one of the biggest foes we've ever dealt with. The only way we'll be able to defeat this large attack force is if you obey all orders, stick together, and fight as persistantly as you can. If any of us don't make it through this battle, I want you to know that your bravery today will always be remembered and I am honored to know all of you." His speech was too similar to what he said in my nightmare for me to feel comfortable.
Memories of me hunched over sobbing by Ro's coffin invaded my mind. 'No. That isn't going ta happen,' I reasoned with myself. 'I won't let Ro die.'
Thunder sounded in the distance and I whipped my head back to the aproaching army. There, in the air, leading the attack force was Ro. 'What is Ro doin'?!' I asked myself. 'Why is she helpin' the facility?'
This has to be a trick! Ro would never help them! I was thinking about why she would help them like this when a bolt of lightning hit the ground a foot away from me. All the XMen jumped into action as the bolt hit the ground. There was no time to expres our shock, so we started to charge the aproaching army.
After a minute of running, we started clashing with the army. All the facilitiy's fighters had the same blank expressions. I was fighting Viper when I noticed the robotic movements and fake expressions. Something's off and I don't know what it is.
Once I rendered Viper unconcious, I looked frantically for Ro. She was flying over the battlefeild while summoning lightning that was raining down on us.
After defeating three other foes, I found the woman that had broke me out of the facility. She was running toward me with pure fear. 'Mybe she knows what's going on,' I thought as I ran towards her.
She caught up to me and pulled me out of the way right as Blob was about to punch me. "Is there somwhere safe we can talk?" she asked urgently. "I don't have much time before I lose control again and there's a lot I need to tell you." If she really didn't have much time, I knew exactly who to take her to.
Xavier was rubbing his temples in the courtyard when we arrived. "Charles! I need your help. Can you read this girl's mind? She wants to help us but she says she doesn't have much time."
The girl was staring at Xavier in wonderment. "It's an honor Sir!" She exclaimed excitedly.
He smiled, "thank you for helping us with this. My team and I are very grateful."
The girl suddenly knelt down, "I'm already starting to fade. You have to read my mind. Now." She was clutching her side and wincing in pain like she was when she rescued me.
Xavier wheeled closer to her and touched her head. "Logan. We have to stop the XMen from fighting," he said the instant he removed his hand from her head.
"What's going on?" I asked urgently. "Did she say why Ro's attacking us?"
Charles nodded, "none of the mutants are fighting us. They're all under some form of mind control." Mind control? That's crazy! "I'm sending a telepathic to everyone fighting them to only render the mutants unconcious."
Out of nowhere, the girl started throwing punches at me. She wasn't that strong so I easily blocked all her punches. Her facial expression matched that of the other mutants.
It only took a few seconds to knock her out. Hurtin' her after she helped us made me feel guilty, but I knew it was the right thing to do since she wasn't in control. Right as I was about to look up at Ro, a funnel cloud formed on the far side of the mansion. It almost instantly destroyed the greenhouse.
I looked up to where Ro was flying and could see her arms shaking. 'How could they do this to her?!' I thought angrily. 'The real Ro would never intentionally hurt anybody. Now they're forcing her ta shoot lightning at us and destroy the mansion.'
Just as I was about to turn away, her arms went limp and she started falling towards the ground. I ran as fast as I could while fighting through the crowd of possessed opponents to make it to where she was falling.
After a few seconds of holding out my arms, Ro landed in them. She was ice cold and her body as limp. It was as if there wasn't a battle going on around us as I stroked Ro's cheek. 'How could I have mistaken Mystique for you?' I wondered while smelling her vanilla and rainwater scent no one else could pull off.
Her beautiful aqua eyes opened up. At first they looked unfocused, but when they zeroed in on me, they shined with unbridled joy. "Logan," she said weakly as she wrapped her arms around me. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too Darlin', more than you'll ever know, " I said truthfully.
Ro looked up at me sadly, "I don't have much time, so I need you to do something before I lose control again."
I nodded, "I'll do anything for you Darlin'."
She took a deep breath and looked up into my eyes. They were brimming with fresh tears. As I was about to wipe the tears away she spoke up. Her voice cracked as she told me something I'd never dream of hearing in my worst nightmare.
"I need you to kill me."
