The triplets left for school or the Marine base in DC. Josie and Alison we already so excited to be living in a dorm on campus together, and being able to do art together, which is what bonded them in the first place.
Noah was fitting in well on the base, and was always sending us emails or calling us and telling about how he had made amazing friends and preferred their gym over the ones in Manhattan.
Then my younger kids were going and doing bigger and better things. Kora was in college with Ryan, and both were taking classes that worked for criminal justice. James was growing like crazy and getting more and more into sports like his older brother. Charlie was still the little princess in our house, and was into all of the girly things that Bailey was into before we lost her.
"I really don't like going home at night sometimes." I sighed, as Elliot drove us home, and he held my hand over the center part of the vehicle.
"I don't either, but at least we have James and Charlie to see every night."
"I know, but Kora and Ryan live on campus, even though they could drive everyday, and James is always out back practicing and Charlie just wants to do tea parties and fashion show. I kinda miss drama." I frowned.
"I'm sure there will excitement soon. Aubrie will be going into labor in the next couple of weeks, so we'll have Ollie and Mere staying with us."
"Yeah, that's a good thing." I smiled.
It was sad, but the truth was that I was thankful for Greg not being close to his parents, because that meant we got more time with our grandchildren.
"Do you ever wish that we had more kids, or had Aubrie, Greg, and the kids living with us?" Elliot asked, and I looked over at him and shrugged.
"I don't know. I love what we have, but we used to have a super loud family, one that was always yelling or laughing, but now we only have two kids living at home who are both independent and sometimes want to spend more time by themselves than with us." I replied, and he frowned, as he pulled onto our street.
"Maybe we should try and get Ollie and Meredith to sleep over once a week or something. So we have more excitement in our house." Elliot spoke, and I smiled.
"I'd like that."
When we got to our house, Ryan's car was parked on the street, and I looked at my husband.
"Do we have plans with them?" I mused, but Elliot shook his head.
"No, but I guess we will see what's happening."

When we got into the house my grandchildren were playing with Charlie and James, while Kora and Ryan made them dinner. Aubrie and Greg had dropped them off on their way to the hospital, but since we weren't home and couldn't be reached because we were in an interrogation, they called Kora to come watch them.
So after we ate dinner with the kids, I put them to bed with Elliot's help. Then we went down stairs and found Kora and Ryan cleaning up.
"What have you did with me daughter?!" I exclaimed, and Kora laughed.
"We don't know how long Aubrie is going to be in labor before the baby is born, so we are going to stay around and help you out because those four kids are crazy. Mere alone is crazy." Kora smiled, and I nodded.
"Thank you both so much, but we can do this. Go do homework, or something, but not that while your siblings and niece and nephew are here. Or us even." Elliot spoke, as his face scrunched up in disgust.
"Okay, well you'll be happy to know that we are waiting for marriage. But now you see that you embarrassed me. So good night. I love you Mom, but Dad back off!" Kora exclaimed, and I smiled as she walked away with Ryan.
My husband looked at me and sighed.
"Like you-"
"I know you are glad, but just don't think about it anymore. Because the neck thing you know, you'll be going in there in the middle of the night and putting a pillow wall in between them."
"They are sleeping in the same bed!?" He exclaimed, and all I did was laugh.

Two full days later we got a call from Greg, and he asked us to bring the kids up so they could meet their little brother, Elliot Joseph Shepard. They were already calling him Eli, which is such an adorable name for such a little boy.
Eli had the same red hair as his father and his big sister. His cheeks were chubby, but on his left cheek he had a dimple just like his mother does. He was such a chunky little baby, but he was so damn cute.
"So, is this the last one?" I questioned, as I held my grandson and swayed slightly to keep him sleeping.
"We don't know. I might want another girl." Aubrie smiled, as she held Meredith in her arms, and rocked her back in forth.
"Adoption is a way to get a girl, if you really want one but don't want to be overwhelmed with boys because that's all you may get." Elliot smiled, as he looked over my shoulder at our grandson.
"Yeah, we will see. That was painful, but I'm glad he's finally here. Did you call everyone to tell them?" She asked her husband the last part.
"Yes ma'am. Noah is on the train up here right now. Kora and Ryan will bring up Charlie and James once they are out of school, and Josie and Alison are on their way right now." Greg smiled, before he leaned down and kissed Aubrie's curls.
"Grandma, can I hold him yet?" Ollie asked, from where he sat in the rocker in the corner.
"I guess." I sighed, and he smiled. I walked over and helped him hold his brother the right way, before walking over to my husband.
Elliot wrapped his arms around my waist before leaning in and kissing me softly. He leaned close to my ear and spoke.
"If it wasn't for me dumping soup on you, we wouldn't be here witnessing our daughter's family grow, or having our kids living amazing lives. Thanks for being there by my side." He smiled, before kissing my neck softly, and I blushed a deep red.
"No, thank you, love."
