"I do not want to use you as a bandage, Olivia! You have and will always be my daughter even if that adoption certificate was ripped up. I wish you'd realize that." Sharon spoke, and I rolled my eyes.

"When Joseph and you would fight, what was it about?" I asked, and she went completely silent.

"It was about me. If I was really your daughter, the place where I came from wouldn't have been an issue. You wouldn't have been arguing about me all the time. You never argued about Simon." I breathed, before closing my eyes and leaning against the chair back.

"Simon was our baby, Liv." She spoke, and I felt tears sting my eyes.

"I've tried to forget about my childhood. Everything before Serena got me was pushed aside. But now, now you have to come back into my life. You have to drag up so much stuff. My children do not need to know about everything that happened. They don't need to know about the memories that I have you laying on the ground bleeding, or telling all of your friends that the black eye was from a cabinet or from a door."

"I'm sorry that you had a horrible childhood, but you were loved, and you still are."

"I was adopted by you both because Joseph knew. He took me because he wanted everything to stay silent. For Serena to never find out about me. But he didn't know about the papers. The papers that Serena set aside for me. I have to go now. My youngest broke her nose and might wake up and need me. Bye." I spoke, before hanging up. I stood and turned around, to only see Alison and Aubrie standing on the deck.

"Girls-"

"We heard it all Mom. I wish you'd trust us enough to tell us about everything." Aubrie whispered, before turning in and walking into the house. I sighed as I looked at Alison.

"Greg is sick. She had to come here with the kids. They are sleeping throughout the house." Alison spoke before walking into the house, and I frowned.

Great.

I took some time for myself before heading inside. Elliot was laying on the couch, and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Stabler, what are you doing?" I questioned, and he sat up quickly and looked at me.

"I wanted to see how the call went. So?" He spoke, and I sighed.

"We fought as usual. The girls heard the whole thing."

"Yeah, I might've dozed off and they went out back. I was trying to guard the doors."

"Elliot, I haven't my kids' respect and trust for awhile. Now they know that their whole lives I was lying to them."

"You were hiding this from them. Protecting them from your past. They didn't just stop respecting and trusting you." He spoke, and I frowned as I sat next to him.

"I wish I was plain. That I came from a normal background with two loving parents. Something that everyone would expect. But instead I had to  be unique." I groaned, before leaning my head against his shoulder.

"Oh, but I love you. You are my weirdo." He grinned, and I elbowed him the side before looking at the stairs.

"Still want to do what you wanted to do?" I asked, and he shook his head.

"You owe me. Right now I'm just tired." He yawned, and I nodded.

"Lets go to bed then."

The next morning I went downstairs to get an ice pack for Charlie's nose, and I saw Aubrie in the living room. She was holding onto the baby monitor, just in case Eli or Meredith woke up.

"What are you doing up, kid?" I asked, as I walked into the kitchen.

"I'm thinking about what I heard last night." She replied, and I frowned as I walked out of the kitchen.

"I'm sorry that you heard all of that. I know that you met Sharon and Simon, but you were too young to really remember."

"I remember Joseph. How I wasn't allowed to hug you for a few months because he had shot you." She spoke, and I shushed her.

"Charlie is awake upstairs. She might be listening." I spoke, and she shrugged.

"Just keep lying to her. To everyone." She replied, and I rolled my eyes before heading up the stairs.

However, Aubrie didn't anticipate that I'd walk down the stairs again. I grabbed her jacket and tossed it at her before walking outside. I sat on the steps of the back porch and she joined me.

"You know why I lied. Why the only family the kids will ever know is what they have now. You lucked out, love. You had a good family your whole life. No matter what we did, we always had your back."

"I guess. But we'd understand you better if we all knew. And my life wasn't amazing. I lost so many people."

"I know, I did too." I whispered, as I draped my arm over her shoulders.

"Have you told anyone else?" Aubrie asked, and I nodded slowly.

"Josie knows, but she doesn't remember. She thinks she has memories of us having her as a toddler, and she says she can see us bringing her siblings home. She wouldn't remember some stupid sob story."

"It wasn't stupid though, Mom. You rose from the ashes and became this powerful, brave, caring, amazing woman. Half of the women in the world wish that they had something more to say about how they came to be. Did you tell Grandma and Grandpa about this?" Aubrie asked, and I shook my head.

"I haven't had time yet. We just saw them last night." I sighed.

"Tell Grandma. She deserves to know."

"Nothing is going to happen, Brie. She just wanted to talk. We talked. Nothing is changing. And I'll always be Serena's daughter no matter what."

"Like I'll be your daughter no matter what." She whispered, and I smiled.

"Yeah. Even if we hate each other sometimes. I'll always be here for you, and I'd like it if you did the same."

"Of course. But what if I want to meet them? What if I want to meet my uncle and former grandmother?" She asked, and I bit my lip.

"Give me time and then I'll see. Just don't go jump into something."
