After a while, things began to become normal without Dani. In a way, it hurt. Ironically, It hurt that her absence was no longer painful. I missed her dangerous eyes. Her reckless laugh and her bleach blonde locks. I think the only person that missed her more than Opal and I did was Ponyboy. But he was healing just like the rest of us.
I was making cake in the kitchen when Dally came and hugged me. "What do you want hood?" I joked. All the boys sat in the living room watching mickey. Opal was at her moms house helping them get ready to move.
"I will see you tonight. I have to go." He said kissing my neck and walking away.
"Where are you going?"
"Surprise. I'll see you later." He said opening the door. "Oh and hey," I turned back around and this time the boys glanced at him too.
"What?"
"I love you." He winked and then left.
"I love you tooooo." I sang even though he already shut the door.
"I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing Dally so soft." Steve joked and I threw the empty cake box at him.
"He's right though." Johnny chimed in. "You changed him Caffeine."
"No I didn't. He was always loving and caring, he just didn't know it." I replied while stirring the ingredients together.
"Whatever, you changed him." Two-bit said making bluntly making all of the boys laugh.
I rolled my eyes and poured the cake batter into the pan and slid it into the oven. These boys were too much for me sometimes, but I loved them.
I took the cake out of the oven shortly after it signaled me to do so. Once I cut everyone a piece and handed it out I sat on the couch eating my cake. We watched tv for a little while and then the boys started getting up and leaving.
"Where are y'all going?!" I extremely confused. They didn't say anything. Just walked away. Darry, Pony, and Soda all went to their rooms while the other boys walked out the door.
"Good talk!" I yelled and then took the last bit of my cake. I started cleaning up the plates and washing the dishes.
"Here." Ponyboy said making me jump. He was wearing his church clothes and had his hair fixed. He handed me a note and furrowed my eye brows.
"What the hell are you doing?" He didn't answer. Just kept his arm extended. I took the not and read it.
Go to your room. Put on the dress. Find Sodapop.

I laughed and went to my room. There was a brand new blue dress laying on my bed. I slid on the dress and slipped on the converse laid beside it. I left my hair down since it was wavy from the braids I had yesterday.
"Find Sodapop." I whispered to myself. I walked into Sodapop and Ponyboy's room but it was empty.
"What is going on?" I whispered under my breath to myself. I shook my head and went to Darry's room. He wasn't there either.
"Ponyboy do you know where-" I looked where I had left him and he was gone. I looked into the living room and kitchen.
"Ponyboy?" I yelled but soon realized I was alone.
"This has to be some game." I looked at my letter and remembered I was supposed to find Sodapop. Where would Sodapop be if he wasn't here?
