I loved Saturday's. Everyone stayed over. Steve and Sodapop didn't have to work Saturdays or Sundays and Darry had Sundays and some Saturdays off. This was one of those days when we were all together. We were all in the living room playing silly games and drinking beer. Well, I had shots of vodka in my coffee, while the boys drank beer. Even Ponyboy drank with us as long as were all staying home.
"Okay guess what animal I am." I said and then just started laughing at myself.
"You're drunk." Dally stated while holding my hips as I sat in his lap.
"I'm happy leave me alone. Okay ready... Caw! Caw!" They all yelled out different birds.
"Crow!"
"Eagle!"
"Turkey!"
"Steve, since when did Turkeys caw?" Johnny asked.
"Since about three beers ago." Steve answered making us all laugh hysterically.
"I was a Raven!" I yelled and fell back into Dally's chest. He kissed my head and I turned my head and kissed his lips.
"Nobody wants to see that!" Ponyboy yelled.
"Sodapop Where's Opal I feel like I haven't seen her in decades?" I asked ignoring Ponyboy.
"They've been really busy. Her parents got divorced so she's been going through a lot of family stuff." I didn't know how to respond so I just nodded.
"I'm tired." I laid back on Dally again and closed my eyes.
"Go to bed then, it's 12:00 am." Darry stated.
"Geez we've been doing this all day?" I laughed.
"Yeah pretty much."
I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I went inside my bedroom and changed into some pajamas and then came back to the living room. I leaned close to Dally's ear and whispered.
"If Darry lets you, you should stay the night." He winked at me, signaling for me to ask for Darry's permission.
"Darry, if I Promise not to be stupid can Dally stay the night. In my bed. With me." He raised one eye brow at me in slight disapproval. He glanced at Dallas.
"We aren't going to anything but sleep, Darrel." He promised. And with that Darry nodded his head yes. I kissed Darry on the cheek and Dally and I went to bed, and we slept.
I woke up Sunday morning and ate breakfast quickly. I picked out which dress I was going to wear to church and hopped in the shower.
I got out and started blow drying my hair. My hair was thin, but I had a lot of it, so it took a while to dry. When I finally finished I slipped on my clothes and walked out. My brothers always came to church with me, when Sodapop was younger, I sent him to children's church because he could never sit still and behave. Ponyboy always did real well though. My brothers were ready when I walked out, and to my surprise, so was Dallas.
"Dally are you coming?" I asked slightly shocked, but mostly joyful.
"You're going to be my wife soon, I need to start being a husband." He replied and kissed me.
"Dallas," Darry started and shook Dally's hand. "I never thought you'd be half the man you are to my sister. I want to thank you for that."
My heart cried tears of joy at the sound of this. Dallas smiled at me and I smiled back widely.
"You still look a little too much like Sodapop when you smile like that." Dal said humorously.
My smile dropped quickly and all the boys laughed. With that, we walked out the door to the car. We stopped to pick up Johnny first. He always liked to go. And then we went to church, as a family.
