Prompt #20: Stranded in the mountains, rescue takes days

Ryan's PoV:

So Jerome and I thought that going on a camping trip up the mountain would be fun. Boy were we wrong.

It started out as a simple hike, and we settled down for the first night. Easy peasy.

The next day, we somehow got off the trail, and the ordeal began.

"Jerome..where are we?" I asked as he fumbled with the map. He look frustrated, and I frowned.

"I...don't know." He finally sighed. And from then on, we tried to backtrack, which only got us more lost.

We started rationing out food and water, but I gave Jerome my servings when I could. We had only planned to be gone for three days, and the only person we told was Mitch.

And now we have to survive tonight, and pray that he figures out we're lost.

Day Seven.

We're getting to the last of our rations, and we've found no rivers to refill our water at, and we've been staying in one general area so the searchers can find us.

Our patience had been running thin, and we argue just about every time we open our mouths. I learned to just stay quiet, to conserve energy and my sanity.

It was burning hot out here, so I had my shirt off and wrapped around my head as I sat in the shade. We had half a water bottle left, but I was saving it for Jerome. If worst came to worst, I want him to make it out of here.

Wow. I'm creative at night, apparently. I'll have to remember this. I'M TRYING TO CATCH UP WITH THE DAYS, BUT I'M STILL 4-5 BEHIND. HNNNNNNG.
