Jerome's PoV:

Fuuuuck. Ryan's gonna be so upset with me. Let me start from the beginning, alright?

Well, I cooked dinner, as usual. Amelia was helping me set the table, bless her little nine year old self. We ate like normal, and I started doing the dishes.

See, I bought myself this little knick knack shaped like a hand so you can put your rings on it so they don't fall down the drain. Genius right? Well tonight happened to be the one night I forgot.

I was furiously scrubbing this one pan because apparently I didn't use enough spray on it before I started cooking, so there was a bunch of stuff burnt to the surface. After I was done with it, a whopping ten minutes later, I sighed in relief.

I handed Amelia the pan to dry, and I dried off my own hands before reaching for the ring holder.

Empty.

I froze, checking the surrounding area and all over the kitchen.

"Amelia, did you see daddy put his ring on the holder like he does every night?" I asked her kneeling down and placing my hands on her shoulders.

"Nuh-uh, you didn't. I thought it was kinda weird, but I didn't say anything." She told me, shaking her head. Shit. That leaves one place.

I glared over at the sink and sighed. My wedding ring went down the drain. Never to be seen again. I looked back to her.

"Thanks sweetheart, you were a big help." I forced a small smile. "Why don't you go play with Lucas, and tell your father to come in here." She nodded enthusiastically, racing off to the living room, Ryan coming in a minute later.

"What's wrong hun?" He asked, coming over to my side. I couldn't say it. Didn't want to say it. So I just pointed at the sink. He glanced at it confused.

"Is it backed up, or leaking?"

I shook my head, and held up my left hand, my ring finger already feeling depressingly bare. He tilted his head, trying to put 2 and 2 together.

Then a look of realization shot across his eyes. He wrapped me in a tight hug, and a few tears slipped out my eyes.

"I-It's gone Ryan. I'm so s-sorry." I whispered shakily. He shushed me, rubbing my back.

"It's alright. This just gives me the chance to propose to you all over again." I could feel him smile against the side of my head, and I blushed.
