Prompt #12: Ignores red warning light on car dash

Jerome's PoV:

Smoke started billowing from under the hood, and I cursed, turning on my hazard lights and pulling to the curb. I turned the car off, and jumped out, rushing to open the hood. More smoke poured out, and I coughed, covering my mouth and waving it away.

I pulled out my phone, and called up Ryan. "Hello, babe? I got a problem." I blurted when he picked up.

"Are you alright? What is it, where are you?"

"I'm on the side of the highway?" He sighed. "I'll be there in ten minutes."

We both hung up, and I sat on the ground next to my car, watching the wisps of smoke join the clouds. Before long, Ryan's truck pulled up, and he got out, coming to my side. He pulled me up, and I hugged him.

"I know what went wrong." I murmured, pulling away and looking to the side. "You do?"

"I kinda...um..ignored the 'check engine' light..for three weeks." I braced myself for a lecture, but all I got was another hug.

"I'm just glad you're okay. But you're pretty stupid." He whispered.

Sorry if this was crap, I wrote this yesterday morning, and...father's day was just kinda rough. 12 is done
