Prompt #18: Attempts suicide once more

Jerome's PoV:

Four days ago. Ryan and I's three year anniversary. And he forgot. And he's never once mentioned it to me. I knew we'd been in a bit of a rut for awhile, but really? This was just the icing on the cake to me.

I knotted the noose like the internet tutorial said, and I hooked it on one of the rafters in the attic. I got a stool, and set it underneath, before going to get a piece of paper.

Dear Ryan,

I love you so much, don't ever doubt that...I just can't do it anymore. I'm sorry, and I'll miss you. And Cooper.

I sniffed, and wiped at my eyes, before setting the note down on one of the tables. I walked back to the stool, and climbed up, putting my head through the rope.

I kicked the stool, and I dropped, the rope constricting my airways. I gasped for breath.

As my vision started fading, I heard the front door open.

"Babe, I'm home!"

"R-Ry..an.." I wheezed, struggling against the rope instinctively. I could hear him moving around downstairs, maybe looking for me.

Before long, there were noises coming from the ladder, and Ryan's head poked up.

"Jerome!" He yelled, scrambling to throw himself under me and support my weight. I was fading in and out of consciousness.

When I opened my eyes, I was in his arms, the rope gone, and we were in our bedroom. He was crying his eyes out, and I suddenly felt bad.

"Ryan.." I mumbled, my throat scratchy and sore. He froze, his head whipping to face mine in a heartbeat.

"Jerome you scared me oh my God why would you do that?" He rambled all at once, and again, I started feeling bad.

"I'm sorry..." I started crying into his shoulder.
