"Odette! Jasper's here!"

"Alright mom! I'll be right down!" Odette called down the stairs. Dressed in a simple black t-shirt and blue jeans, she grabbed some cash and stuffed it into her pocket along with her cellphone and a tube of chapstick. Her long, dirty blonde hair was tied back into a ponytail with a scrunchie and a streak of black kohl lined her crystal blue eyes.

In the living room, Jasper was lounging on the couch watching a sitcom her mother always watched. He was tall and lanky with short black hair that was spiking up in all directions and almost took away from his own striking blue eyes. Odette and Jasper had been best friends for years, being around the same age, and nearly considered each other siblings. They did everything together; from movie marathon sleepovers, to hanging out nearly every day. They were always there for each other.

"Hey." He stood up and smiled at her. His voice was deep despite his young age. "How are you doing?"

"Better now that you're home again!" Odette flew across the room and gave him a huge hug. "How was your work trip?"

"Fine." He shrugged, "Work is work. Are you ready?"

"Uhuh!" Odette leaned over and kissed her mother on the cheek. "I'll be home for dinner."

"Have fun you two." She smiled as Odette pulled Jasper from the apartment. They walked down the street in the direction of the mall, chatting non-stop.

"I'm so glad to see you again!" Odette gushed, bumping her shoulder against his.

"Me too Odi." He laughed and ruffled her hair. "I'm sorry that work kept me away for so long."

"It's okay. You're back now and that's what matters." They laughed and joked around as they continued on down the street. At the mall they bought a couple drinks and sat on a bench outside. Taking a deep sip of her strawberry milkshake, Odette sighed and stretched in the sun. "Ah... this feels so nice."

"It does." Jasper adjusted the sunglasses he always wore and leaned back as well, sipping at his lemonade. "What do you want to do today?"

"How about we go to that club you like?"

"But you don't like clubs Odi." He raised an eyebrow at her. "You're claustrophobic."

"I know, but I want you to have fun today and I know you like clubbing. You just got back from a long work trip. Let's celebrate!" She tugged on his arm, "We'll go later tonight right after dinner."

"If you say so." He laughed and got to his feet, pulling her up beside him. "Let's get you an outfit then."

"Me? No, I can just wear jeans and a t-shirt."

"Oh, no. If you are serious about going to a club, especially the one I like, you need to look the part. Besides, you're a girl. Shouldn't you be excited about shopping for a new outfit?" She shoved him but he jumped up and grinning, led her back into the mall.

"How's this one?" Odette stepped from a changing room and stood before Jasper who was slouched in a waiting chair. When he saw her he sat up quick with a deep frown on his face, looking her over. "That bad huh?" She glanced in the mirror and sighed. After trying on tons of outfits she was starting to get frustrated. At the moment she wore a simple black tank top with black lace sleeves, and a deep crimson skirt that lay just above her knees in the front and half way down her calves in the back.

"No, it's not bad at all! I just worry that all the guys are going to come after my little sister. I'll have to spend the night fighting them all off." Jasper laughed and leaned back when she rolled her eyes. "It really does suit you very well. You should get that set." When she smiled and flounced back into the room to change, he sighed and rubbed a hand across his face.
