Odette was sleeping when the door to her room burst open. At the loud, sudden sound she sat up quick and groggily looked around. Five men swarmed into the room. She opened her mouth to scream when one of the men slipped behind her and clasped a wet cloth to her face. She squirmed and fought as the other men came over to restrain her. She fought her hardest, falling from the bed and rolling on the floor. Eventually, from the fumes on the cloth, her vision blurred and ever so slowly she passed out.

When she finally woke up, she was tied to a chair in a dark room. She vaguely remembered what had happened and that she had gained consciousness multiple times on the way to wherever she was now. Each time, someone had put the same chemical soaked cloth on her face.

"Welcome." A slightly familiar voice echoed in the small room. A light was turned on and the man who had attacked her in the alleyway was standing in front of her.

"I'm disappointed to see you are not in perfect health. But that can be fixed." Odette only glared at him, trying to pull at the restraints she had around her wrists and ankles. "You can keep trying to get free. Though it will do nothing but wear out your energy just that much faster." She growled at him and leaned forward, trying to reach the rope around her wrists with her teeth. "This will not do." He stepped closer to her and watched as she struggled. "You are going to have to learn how to behave in front of your master." She continued to chew on the rope, trying to ignore the man in front of her.

"Do stop that." He placed a hand under her chin and forced her head up. She twitched her head quick, biting down hard on his hand. Swearing loudly he reared back and slapped her hard, leaving blood on her face. With a yelp her head whipped back and when she looked at him her eyes had welled up with tears. Still she remained silent, enduring the pain as stoically as she could and trying not to cry.

"I'm sorry for that, but your manners are quite horrid. I will not tolerate such behavior. Here, I'm sure this will help." He grinned as he pulled a long syringe from a pocket in his jacket. Removing the cap he leaned toward Odette whose eyes grew wider and more fearful. "Now, this is going to hurt more than the first time I did this since I'm not using any mind control to relax you."

Slowly he stepped behind her and bit into her neck. She cried out and tried to pull away, but he held on tightly. After a moment he stepped back and licked his lips before plunging the needle into her neck where he had just fed. She fought not to scream as the searing liquid flowed into her, burning from the inside out.

"There. That should start to work any minute now." He laughed and walked from the room, locking the door behind him. Once Odette was sure she was completely alone, she hung her head and began to sob uncontrollably.

Arkhain awoke to a loud noise. She got up quickly, Jasper's arm falling from her waist. She stepped from the bed, opening the door to the room. She frowned when nobody was there and walked back to the bed. When she climbed in Jasper groaned, pulling her close against him. A smirk played on her lips.

She fell back asleep and when she woke the second time, she was in an empty bed. She got up and went out into the room. Frowning when there was no sign of Jasper, she made a quick breakfast and choked it down.

Jasper was already more than halfway back to the resort. He was still irritated and upset from the day before, but now he was also conflicted. Life had become difficult; with Odette turning into a vampire, dealing with Lestat and Harland, and now Arkhain was showing her feelings for him. Though even the latter in that mental list was confusing. One minute she'd treat him like a child and the next she's cuddling next to him as if they were still lovers. True, he did still have some feelings toward her, but he had gained so many feelings for Odette over the years.
