Odette woke up early the next evening and looked around groggily. She had slept over twelve hours and although she was very well rested, she was also feeling a little achy. She got up out of bed and stretched, sighing contently at how good she actually felt.

Cautiously she walked out of the room and down the hall. Looking at all of the paintings and other decorations, she spent a few hours just walking around. Turning down one specific hallway, she heard a deep voice echoing from a room with two large doors. One of them was propped open slightly so she peeked inside. The room was a huge library with an enormous fireplace. Harland was sitting in a chair talking on the phone with someone.

"No you may not take her. You will stay away. There are far too many things that must still be done. Leave us alone, Lestat. Don't push your luck. Oh and tell Arkhain that I am done with her. I don't need her services anymore." He grumbled something and threw the phone. Harland rubbed his temples before getting up and walking quickly toward where Odette was. He pushed the door open and looked at her as she stumbled back.

"Ah, glad to see you are awake. How are you feeling?" He asked, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face.

"I'm alright. Thank you for asking." Smiling slightly, she stepped back and looked away. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop or anything. I was just walking around and heard someone."

"It's fine." He flashed a wicked smile at her then let his hand slip to her neck as he pushed her hair back, revealing her pale skin. He glanced at her before slowly leaning down and letting his fangs sink into her neck. She squirmed but he held her tight. Her blood tasted sweeter with each time; The drug was slowly maintaining it's course. He let go quickly and kissed her neck to close the wound. Pulling back he looked down at her. "What are you doing today?"

Her face flushed as she backed up, hitting the wall. "What would I have planned? I'm kind of stuck here."

"Why are you nervous child?" He asked quietly, a crooked smile on his face. "Oh, your boy toy wanted you. You can go if you wish. I have business to attend to anyway. But you will be back before sunrise. I don't think I have to tell you what will happen if you don't."

"Oh, okay." She relaxed a bit before turning to go. "Thank you." Taking the walk that she had, she now knew how to get to most places in the large building. After making a few wrong turns, she made it to the front door. The sun had just set and she started walking down the driveway when Jasper's car pulled up to her.

"So he actually released you?" He asked rolling down the window. He had his dark aviator shades on, jeans and a polo shirt. His brilliant smile was the first thing she noticed.

"Just for tonight." Odette smiled back and walked around, climbing into the passenger seat. It felt good to be in a relatively familiar setting. "I wouldn't mind visiting my mother though. It's been a really long time and I'm sure she's worried."

"Alright. But you need to control yourself. You also need to think of a story. She will wonder why you are so pale and thin. Make sure not to let your fangs show." He took her hand in his and kissed it gently. He pulled out of the driveway, nodding back at Harland who had appeared in the doorway.

"Oh, right." She went silent for awhile, thinking over everything Jasper had just said. "Can we stop at your place first?" She asked quietly. "I need to take a shower and get some new clothes. It will be hard enough explaining other stuff without my appearance the way it is."

"Well, I know somewhere else we could go." A mischievous smile spreading across his lips. They traveled for quite some time until Jasper pulled the car to a stop at her Grandmother's cottage. The pond sparkled under the dark sky. "The house is finished." He smiled and helped her out of the car.
