Lestat shook Jasper violently. "Get up! We have to go. Now!" He yelled, swearing under his breath. Lestat stormed from the room, slamming the door behind him. His dream had left him on edge and he needed to get away, away from this place and away from everything.
Jasper flew groggily from the room and tried to catch up with Lestat. "What's going on?!" He asked in a rush. Lestat had been mumbling to himself as he walked downstairs. In the living room the chairs were thrown upside down, the pillows everywhere. Jasper looked around in confusion but Lestat was already outside, the car running and he was honking the horn.
"Why are you acting so crazy?" He asked, jumping into the passenger seat. Lestat took off, the tires screeching on the ground. He kept his eyes straight on the road, pulling his shades down to hide his eyes. The drive was long, and he kept quiet the whole time.
"Just a bad dream." Lestat whispered eventually. "I just needed to get out." He pulled the car off to the side of the road and got out. He began swearing, leaving the car door open. After a minute he relaxed, settling back into the car. "Sorry. Where do you want to go?" He said gruffly.
Jasper just stared at him in shock. "What on earth did you dream that's put you in such a tizzy? I haven't seen you like this in a really long time."
"It was nothing!" He yelled and looked at the pure shock on Jasper's face. "It regarded you and Harland." He muttered. "Do not worry about it. I am fine. Just every time I see his face..." He hit the steering wheel. He calmed down after a minute and looked at Jasper.
"Did Arkhain talk to you last night?" Lestat asked quietly.
"Only slightly." Jasper replied, "She just told me about Odette's status. Oh, and there was a note on the couch when I woke up this morning. But I didn't get a chance to read it since you were freaking out."
"Can I see it?" Lestat asked quietly.
"Sure." He took the crumpled paper from his pocket and handed it to him. Lestat snatched it and opened it. He glanced over at Jasper, cracking a smile. He crumbled up the paper and threw it out the window before starting the car and turning back on the road.
"So, where to?" He asked, sounding more confident than before.
"I don't know." Jasper looked out the window. "We still have what, two days left? I don't really care where we go." Lestat nodded slowly, taking a sharp turn to the right. He slammed on the brakes, pulling the car to a stop.
"How long has it been since you rode a horse?" He got out of the car and stretched a bit. In front of them was a large open pasture, a white picket fencing going as far as the eye could see in both directions. Lestat let out a low whistle, much like the one he had done to gain Arkhain's attention. This time three horses ran toward them, one had a woman mounted on it.
As they got closer the horses could be told apart. One was gray with black spots, the other white with a black mane. The third one was mainly brown with white feet. The third one was where the woman sat, Arkhain, dressed in a riding outfit much like professional racers would wear.
"Did you sleep in, love? I have been out here all day." She called and came to a stop at the fence. Lestat laughed, jumping over the fence in a quick movement. He climbed up onto the white horse, swinging up onto the saddle.
"You going to gawk or ride?" Lestat flashed a smile at Jasper.
"I'm coming." He smiled back before climbing over the fence and mounting the last horse. Lestat and Arkhain took off, leaving Jasper standing dumbfounded for a minute. They tore off through the pasture, weaving into the trees.
