strawberries
"strawberry boy... why?"
Monday, January 8th
It was early January, the city was still facing a decent yet cold winter. A light layer of snow was constantly covering the ground and trees. School had just gotten back in after the long winter break and students had just settled in.
"Okay, okay," Taehyung paused to make sure he had the entire table's attention. "Yoongi, it's dare time. Don't think you got away just because you were too chicken to finish the other one." The brown-haired boy rolled his eyes.
"Oh shut up. The last one was fucking stupid anyway." Yoongi huffed and crossed his arms on the plastic table.
"I would've done it." Taehyung shrugged and looked at him with a menacing grin.
"Okay I actually like Nari, I'm not just going to send nudes to her." He brushed the dark fringe off his face and rolled his eyes, looking away from his friends.
"So what are we gonna make him do now?" Hoseok asked, amused as he picked at the leftover rice on his tray.
"Let the master think," Taehyung said and held up his pointer finger while his other hand was rubbing two fingers against his temple as his eyes scanned the room for ideas.
The table was silent. Yoongi was grumpily staring at a group of girls at another table, Hoseok was still picking at his food, and Namjoon, who was also at the table, was just quietly reading his new book.
"I got it!" Taehyung shouted, which unsurprisingly scared Hoseok.
Hoseok smacked Tae's back playfully, excited to hear his new challenge. Yoongi looked back at them, his expression still annoyed as his shoulders slumped.
"So, I have the ultimate challenge. You guys know Park Jimin?" Taehyung asked and leaned forward on the table.
"Uh, no?" Yoongi shrugged, never even heard the name before.
"Park Jimin? Freaky mute kid?" Taehyung asked and rolled his eyes at their confusion.
"He's not a freak," Namjoon sighed and closed his thumb in his book to hold his page.
"He doesn't talk! At all!" Taehyung said with raised brows and both his hands flat on the table.
"That doesn't make him a freak Taehyung." Namjoon sighed again and shook his head.
"Anyway, mute boy Park Jimin-"
"What about him?" Yoongi asked with annoyance heavy in his tone.
"Let me finish! Park Jimin! Mute boy! So, your new dare is..." Taehyung paused to make a drum roll on the table. "You have to make him speak and have proof before the school year is over!" He said and smacked his hands one last time on the table.
"No way. No way in hell." Yoongi said rolled his eyes, looking away from Taehyung.
"That's genius!" Hoseok said and smacked Taehyung's back again, making the younger wince at the small pain.
"I don't know guys, don't you think that's too har-"
"No, it's perfect. If you don't do it, I'll tell the whole school about your crush on Nari. Stamp dare." Taehyung smirked and leaned back into his seat.
"You wouldn't."
"He would." Namjoon sighed for the millionth time that day.
Taehyung looked evilly at Yoongi from the other side of the table. This was how their group of friends worked, dares were games that always went way too far. Stamp dares are the dares they must complete or there's a humiliating punishment. Each person gets only three a year and must use them wisely.
"Just tell her you like her now so it won't matter when he tells." Namjoon shrugged and shoved his book back into his backpack, as the lunch period was ending soon.
"No way," Yoongi said and quickly turned to Namjoon.
"It was just a thought, I don't understand why you fancy her so much. She's not even that pretty." Namjoon said as he zipped up his backpack and set it on the table.
"Shut your gay ass up." Yoongi huffed and crossed his arms.
"Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I can't have opinions on the other gender." Namjoon looked at Yoongi, whose eye's lit up with fire.
"Fine," Yoongi said angrily, he knew Namjoon's statement was right.
"So what are you gonna do Yoongs?" Taehyung chuckled and threw his tray away as a janitor walked around with a trash bin.
"Don't call me that. How do you expect me to make a mute boy speak? Isn't that like, literally impossible?" Yoongi asked, still giving Taehyung confused glares.
"He spoke in primary school, it's not impossible." Taehyung shrugged, Hoseok nodding his head in agreement.
"I don't even know who he is! I can't do miracles Taehyung! This isn't fair!" Yoongi yelled, anger was pouring through his voice.
"How do you think Nari will react when she finds out about your lovesick, gummy, crush on her-"
"Fuck you. I'll do it." Yoongi said and grabbed his backpack from the floor.
"Can't be by force!" Taehyung yelled and pointed his finger at him.
"Jesus, okay! I get it." Yoongi huffed and stood up, waiting for the bell to ring.
"Six months," Taehyung said and the bell rang, lunch was over. "Time's ticking." He smiled his box smile to tease Yoongi, which worked more than Yoongi wanted to admit.
The older boy just rolled his eyes, for the millionth time that period, and walked away from the group. He's getting sick of their shit. Sure they're his best friends, but they can be huge assholes. They always hold dumb shit over his head.
"This was fucking stupid."
