Chapter 21: Walking

*After School*

Nobody wanted to miss the bus, so everyone was pushing and shoving trying to get to Ms. Philips.

"Shit! We're gonna miss the bus!" Ashton said.

"I know!" Cal added.

"We're gonna have to walk!" Chloe said, pouting.

"I hate walking home. It takes a long time and my feet hurt when I get home." Luke said, looking down at his feet with a pouty face.

"Ms. Philips! Can we just come tomorrow?!" Michael yelled.

"You can if you want an F!" She replied.

"Damn, she needs to calm down. She doesn't know how far we live." Michael said quietly, resting his head on my shoulder. I started giggling.

"What's so funny?" he said, taking his head off my shoulder.

"Your hair was tickling me." I laughed.

"My hair doesn't have arms though." he smiled.

"Very funny, Mikey." Calum replied, looking down at the floor and shaking his head in disappointment. We all joined him soon after.

"Aww! C'mon guys! It wasn't that bad." Mikey said.

We all burst out laughing and hugged him to make him feel better.

We all finally got to the front and we were the last ones there.

"And, we missed the bus!" Luke said, sadly, looking out the window to where the bus came.

"Dammit!"

"Shit!"

"Fuck!" Michael, Ash, and Cal all said at the same time, just different words(I don't know how to explain it :P)

"You boys better watch your language." Ms. Philips said, concentrating on the baby's back, where she was pressing buttons and all that stuff.

"Sorry." they all said together, except for Luke. He was still looking out the window.

"You're lucky it's after school."

"Yup." Luke said, pretending to be disappointed in them.

We all laughed and soon we were ready to go.

We were walking past the park which meant we weren't too far away from home. Ellie cried once and it was the most annoying cry ever. Ash calmed her down by rocking her and she shut up. Haley cried twice, but Luke calmed her down by rocking her and then once she stopped, he kissed her forehead sweetly. It was the cutest thing ever.

"How'd you get so good with babies?" Chloe asked him.

"I don't know."

"You're gonna be a great father one day." I smiled at him, trying to be serious.

"Yup." he laughed. " I know." We all laughed and then Niall cried.

"Ughh!" Chloe said, rolling her eyes.

"I got this." Calum said taking the baby from her. We were carrying them in our arms because Ms. Philips didn't give us a bag or anything. Just a swaddled baby. Cal got Niall to be quiet, but once he was quiet,Jack started crying and so did Ellie. Niall started soon after and then Haley. All of the babies were crying. Great.

It took 15 minutes to stop the crying and then we were at Luke's house saying bye to him. Calum and Michael went off their neighborhood, leaving Chloe, Ash, and me. We said our goodbyes to Ashton and then I said bye to Chloe, reminding her to ask her brother about Lauren.

When I walked in, my mom was angry. "Where have you been?!"

"My Home Ec teacher didn't let us go and we missed the bus. So, me and my friends walked home together. We're all in Home Ec together and we just got our babies for our project."

"Thank goodness! I've been calling you and you wouldn't answer! I called the school and asked Lauren and the neighbors. I was so worried about you Claire!" she said to me.

"I'm sorry mom." I shrugged.

"If you're going to walk home, tell me!"

"Yes, mom. By the way I'm not gonna be home on Friday. Me and my friends are gonna hang out."

"I don't even know them! Is this a sleepover? Will there be boys there?"

"Mom, it's Ms. Clifford and she lives in the neighborhood next to us. I'm friends with her son. I don't think it's a sleepover and yes there will be boys there. Don't worry! Chloe is coming with me and we're gonna listen to them. They're a band."

"Who's Chloe?"

"My friend. Ms. Browning's daughter?"

"Ooo! I met her. She's nice."

"Are you ok with me going then?!" I asked excitedly.

"Yes, but stay with Chloe! And no funny business!"

"What the heck, mom!" I laughed, running upstairs to go show Ellie to Lauren and Olivia, maybe Jessa and Sam too.

"Guys! I have something to show you!"

"Where were you? With Ash?!" Lauren nudged me.

"Yes, actually, and a couple other friends too. This is Ellie, me and Ash's baby." I giggled.

"Oh, shit! Is she gonna be crying all night?" Lauren asked, rolling her eyes.

"Maybe. Sorry. And watch your language."

"Sorry. What about Ash? Can't he just watch her?"

"I volunteered and he'll be over more helping me with her."

"Ooo!" she nudged me again. " Olivia loves him."

"I think all of them do." I laughed.

"Yea, he's nice." she smiled.

I showed Ellie to Olivia. Surprisingly, Olivia was really good with her and she was rubbing her head and holding her hand. They were pretty much the same size. I took a picture of her and then took a picture of all of the girls and sent it to Ash. He said he missed "his olive" and the rest of them. He would be the perfect boyfriend. I just knew it.
