Chapter 10: Babies

We all had Home Ec next, so we decided we should all just walk together there.

"What do you think we're doing today?" Calum asked Ashton suddenly.

"I think we have to take notes on 'the caring and keeping of a newborn baby' , but I don't know."

"Oooo! Do you think we get to take care of a fake baby doll or something?" Michael asked excitedly.

"I don't know." Ashton replied.

"If so, I already got my wife." Cal said looking away, but we all knew who he was talking about.

"Dammit! I forgot about that. Do you think I can just be gay? Because all the girls in there are so annoying, and then there's Marilyn..."

"Why don't you just be a single dad, then?" Cal asked.

"True." Michael replied.

When we walked into the classroom, Chloe went and introduced me to Ms. Philips and thankfully she let us choose where we wanted to sit. We sat with the boys of course.

"Okay, class! Today we will be learning about the caring and keeping of a newborn baby! And then we will be talking about our upcoming project and then we will pick partners! Okay, so if you all will please take out your notebooks, we can start the notes!" she smiled.

We learned about how to change a diaper, how to swaddle, how to bathe and feed the baby, and about how it is very important for the fathers to be there for the mothers even if it is 2 a.m.

"Okay! So here are the project guidelines. Any questions?" she said while passing out the project guideline papers.

" Am I allowed to be a single dad? If not, can I marry the same sex?" Michael asked.

"Of course! Both are okay." she said with a smile.

"Ok. "

"Now if you would all please choose a partner and then read the guidelines, as well as answering the questions on the attached sheet."

"So... Claire. You wanna be my partner?" Ash asked me sweetly.

"Of course." I said with a smile, but I could feel myself blushing like crazy.

"So... Chloe. Would you like me to be the father of your baby?" Cal asked, giggling.

"Ok." was all Chloe could get out. She was blushing like crazy also.

"Luke and me are gonna be single." Michael said, giving Luke a high-five.

"Mkay, let's answer these questions, shall we?"Ash said looking over at the paper.

"Yeah. Are we married or not?"

"Well, do you want to be married?"

"What do you want?"

"Well," Ashton said, getting down on one knee. " I was wondering, Claire... what's your middle name?" He laughed nervously

"Elisabeth." I giggled.

"Oh! Ok well, Claire Elisabeth Hunt, would you marry me?"

"Yes." I couldn't help but giggle.

"Great! Ok..." he said while checking off the married box. "It says that we have to go to her to get a fake wedding ring so she knows we're married...what?"

"I'll go ask her." I said getting up.

When I went up there, I didn't even have to ask. She just gave me 2 rings. One super simple, I'm guessing this one goes to Ash, and one really pretty ring, with a really small diamond in the middle. It was fake, but it looked so real.

"How'd you know?" I asked her.

"I saw Ashton get down and ask you. He's a really sweet boy, you know. I'm glad you're his partner. He'll take care of you." Ms. Philips smiled.

"Oh, well, thank you." I smiled, starting to walk back to Ashton.

"Well, here's our wedding rings." I said, giving him his. We both put them on, officially showing that we were 'married'.

"Ok, next question. " and the questions kept coming. They were asking questions that we took notes on, like a quiz sort of. Then we came to ' Name 3 baby names each for each sex' and under the question there was 2 columns that labeled girl and boy. I could tell Cal and Chloe were having a hard time with this question because they were staring at the paper, both with focused faces on. They were so cute.

"Any ideas?" I asked Ashton.

"Not one. You?"

"Hmm... Olivia for a girl and Eli for a boy."

"Ok..." he said, writing down both names. " Any other ones?"

"C'mon. Try to think of one at least!"

"Ok, ok. Erm...how about McKayla and Alex."

"Yea!" I said writing them down. " One more."

"Ok... I'll think of a girl name and you think of a boy name."

"Ok."

"Ella."

"Umm... I don't know! This is so hard!"

" I know right." he laughed.

"How about.... um... Finn!"

" Okay..." he said writing the names down. "Done!"

"Haha... so do we turn this in?"

"Yup!" he said getting up.

"How's it going guys?" I asked the others.

"We're having trouble with the names." Chloe said.

"Yea me too." Luke said.

"Me three!" Michael yelled.

"We had trouble too." I told them all. Ashton came and sat down.

"Ok. So our baby is due tomorrow!" he said laughing.

"Wow! So early! We just got married, and we're having a baby... tomorrow!" I laughed. " Cal! Are you and Chloe married?"

"Yea!" he said smiling.
