Unexpected

Usually when you're on the ground, and somebody says 'stay down' you do what they say. That's because you don't know what position you're in, well at least I didn't. I assumed that I had gotten myself into trouble again as usual, and a night in shining armour must have come to save the day. Turns out the gun was pointed at me.

Now that was a turn of events! Staying on my knees I turned my head to look at the man who was pointing the gun towards me. That was another shock! The man in front of me was not only Stephen's right hand, my close friend but...Rob.

That should have made me cry, and fall back in surprise. But no, I simply stayed down with my head turned towards him with an emotionless face. I stared at Rob then towards my brother. My dead brother. Then to the pool of blood that was coming out of Stephens's arm. Then to Sam who was on the ground next to my brother. She was pale, but her chest was moving so I knew that she was alive. I looked towards the man who had a gun near his legs. There was a small patch of blood on the bottom of it. I figured that he had hit Sam on the head with the gun.

I didn't flinch. Not once. Somehow looking at everything around me didn't seem real, it was all fake.

Voices were echoing around me, yet I wasn't able to figure out from where. I could see mouths moving, but their voices were too faint. I saw Stephen running up to me, screaming. But all of a sudden two men came and stopped him just before he could reach me. He was so close.

My breathing was frantic, and it felt as if I were going to pass out. My brother was dead, that was all that was running around in my head. The world was spinning, yet the echoing voices brought me back to reality.

You need to get up Hazel! You need to get out of here. Rob turned on you, and Stephen and Sam still need your help! Get up! Get up!

So I did. I tried to push myself up, but my legs were too shaky and they weren't able to hold me up. I tried again, but this time it wasn't my physical weakness that stopped me it was the gun.

"I said stay down Hazel. I mean it" said Rob.

"Wh-why" I stammered. I turned my head around so that I could face him. There wasn't a single emotion on his face, just rock hard eyes boring into me.

"I wouldn't be able to tell you even if I wanted to" said Rob blinking his eyes once.

He had the gun placed on my temple, and his finger was on the trigger. He wouldn't shoot me, I know he wouldn't. I moved again and this time the gun did go off. I clamped my eyes shut.

I was sweating. I knew that because I could feel the cold sweat drops on my back. I could still feel! Was that possible? To still be able to feel even if you were dead?

I heard a slight groan, and my eyes flickered open immediately. The gun wasn't placed on my temple anymore, yet it was aimed directly behind me. I whipped my head towards the man who was just shot. Towards Stephen.

The two men who had a firm grip on him before let him go, and he dropped to his knees. I scanned his body for where he was hurt, and saw a pool of blood forming on his abdomen. He placed his hand over it, and I searched for his eyes. For the first time I saw fear in them. That was something that I could figure out in less than a second, because I knew how it felt. But Stephen wasn't afraid of Rob or what he could do, he was afraid of what would happen if he...died. No! I couldn't let that happen.

"No" I whispered. "No, no, no". I stood up from my knees and started for Stephen, but somebody grabbed me by my hair.

I struggled against the grip, and tried to pull it out of their hands. I thrashed around for what seemed an eternity until I dropped in exhaustion. The hands were around my waist now, and they were supporting my weight completely.

"Hazel, I don't want to make this anymore difficult then this already is. You have two options. You can either come with me without any problems and I'll let Stephen and everybody else live. Or you can continue to create problems, and then somebody is going to get hurt" said Rob.

"I'm not afraid of you" I said with a slight slur.

"Oh I can't hurt you Hazel, I have strict orders. But I can hurt everybody else here" said Rob pointing towards Sam.

I closed my eyes and sighed. The smart idea would be to go with him, but would he really help the others? He did just shoot Stephen, whom he known for god knows how long. Is he reliable?

I opened my eyes again and looked at my brother. Instantaneously tears welled up in my eyes, and I let them drop. I averted my eyes to Sam who seemed to have the colour back in her skin. I looked towards her hands, and saw that she was gripping onto her gun. Her knuckles were white, and breathing seemed more rapid. She was awake!

I looked towards Stephen who had put his free hand on the ground to support himself. He looked worse then before, and he needed help fast.

"Fine" I said.

"That sounds more like it" Rob said letting go of my waist.

As soon as he did I turned around and grabbed on to his gun, and somehow managed to pull it out of his grip. With shaky hands I brought it up to his temple. One of the two men tried to run towards me, but Sam shot him in back. He screamed and landed on his stomach on the ground. The other man tried to make a run for it, but Sam was on her feet now and she gave a good kick in the groin. He landed on the ground in pain, and Sam shot him in the chest. He dropped to the ground in an instant.

The funny thing was Rob didn't even try to get the gun from me when I was distracted. He just stood there, emotionless.

"I couldn't beleive it was you who was ratting us out!" yelled Sam.

"Like I said, I wouldn't be able to tell you even if I could" said Rob. He broke the eye contact with Sam and looked towards Stephen who had placed both hands on the ground and was breathing too fast.

"He doesn't look to good either" said Rob again.

Still gripping onto the gun I placed on his chest.

"Don't forget you were the one who did this" I said.

He smirked and said "Good-bye Hazel. It was truely a...pleasure.

Right at that time there was a huge cloud of smoke around us, and it was clogging up my breathing. I dropped the gun and placed a hand over my mouth and nose. I looked towards Sam who had done the same thing, and we both turned towards Stephen who had now collapsed on the ground.

I started towards him and Sam did the same thing. We placed both his hands over our shoulders, and started to drag him out of the darn cave holding our breaths. My feet suddenly tripped on something and I looked down.

My brother. Jacob's hair was ruffled, but his skin was too pale. He looked just like himself, but at the same time he didn't. I looked towards Sam who had a single tear down her cheek as she shook her head. I understood what she was trying to say. We had to leave him behind. There wasn't any way that we could carry both Jacob and Stephen to safety.

I gulped and started again. We reached the entrance of the cave, and collapsed on the sand as soon as we reached a few feet away from it. Stephen was passed out now, and Sam had ripped off her sleeve and had placed it on Stephen's wound. I stood up, and as soon as I did the cave exploded behind me.

I whipped my head towards its way, and saw nothing but fire. Nothing but destruction.

Alright, so I had many questions with people asking if I was okay or if I was sick as usual. But there were a few which had menioned them concerning if I was even I alive. So to answer the question yes I am alive, and in fit shape to be honest. I realize that this is a super late update, but school and exams have just made my life miserable. I finally found the time to write another chapter.

So I apologize that I wasn't able to get this to you guys in time, but here's another! Enjoy.

Oh and please follow, like and comment to share your thoughts.
