Ricky's POV.
I'm really nervous. I've just moved all the way to Australia from LA, because of my mum's work, and now it's my first day of school, all over again. I take a deep breath while looking in the mirror and smoothing out my hair.
"Ready to go, darling?" My mum asks from the hallway.
"Mum, don't call me that," I reply. "And yeah, let's go."
...
The car ride there is kind of awkward. Mum acting all 'proud of her little boy' (even though I'm nearly 18*), and asking me how I feel about the whole thing. I tell her that I'm kind of nervous, but I'll be ok. Finally, she pulls up in front of the school.
"Have a good day honey!" she says, kissing me on the cheek before I exit the car.
"See ya Mum," I say smiling. I shut the door and walk into the school and down to the office where I'm supposed to meet the principal, so he can introduce me to the class I'll be in. I sit outside on a bench for about 5 minutes, before a man with dark ruffled hair, brown eyes and a big smile greets me.
"Hi!" he says. "You must be Ricky Dillon."
"That's me," I reply, standing up with my bag.
"I'm Mr Hayes, the principal," he informs me. "Let me show you to your locker, and then to your class."
He takes me to the locker area, where I put away my bag and take out the books I need for the first two periods, which my timetable says is double History.
"Where do you need to go first?" Mr Hayes asks.
"E5," I say, which must be a classroom name.
"Ok," he says. "Follow me."
...
We reach a door with 'E5' clearly marked on the top. Mr Hayes enters the classroom and tells the class that there's a new student, while I wait outside. He then sticks his head out the door and says to me, "you can come in now."
I tentatively step through the door, and all eyes are on me. I spot a girl who has just turned around, with short blonde hair, sparkly green eyes and glasses. We lock eyes for a second, before I look nervously away. Man, she's beautiful.
*Don't worry guys, I know Ricky's actually 22. He's just 18 in this fanfic, k? 😊*
