Ricky's POV.

Our plan didn't work. Jen found out about Ellie and me, all because stupid Sarah had to interfere. I'm glad that Ellie isn't letting it faze her, because it really shouldn't-it's just what other people think of us. The day other people's opinions change the way I feel is the day I enjoy my little sister's company. Never.

We're sitting in math now, laughing about a comment I made about the teacher. It's amazing the way Ellie makes me feel. I've never had anyone come into my life that lights me up the way she does. Everything about her-her eyes, her smile, her hair, her laugh, her personality-everything about her is beautiful. She's completely flawless, and I love her.

"Oi," she says, snapping me out of my daydream. I look over at her.

"Sorry, what?" I ask. She bursts out laughing, and I can't help but notice the way her eyes sparkle when she does so.

"I asked you if you wanted to come home with me sometime," she explains.

"Oh, uh...yeah, I guess," I reply. You know when you're shocked or amazed at something, and you're literally lost for words? That's what this is like.

"Would you rather take this conversation somewhere else?" Ellie asks with a smirk.

I sigh. "Yeah," I reply, returning the smirk. Before I can think about how we're supposed to do this, Ellie puts an innocent look on her face and raises her hand.

"Yes, Ellie?" The teacher asks when she notices.

"Ricky and I have to do a job for Mrs White," Ellie explains, and I make a mental note to thank her for being the world's best actress later. The teacher nods, and I follow Ellie out the door. She keeps walking down a few side paths until we reach an abandoned corridor that I didn't even know existed before now. She turns around with a mischievous look on her face.

"I can't believe that worked," she giggles, covering her mouth with one hand.

"I know," I agree, wrapping my arm around her waist and lifting her up off the ground a little. She squeals loudly and I spin her around, before she stops and I put her down. When she hits the ground, she's looking right into my eyes.

"We're gonna get into so much trouble," she laughs, shaking her head.

"Let's hide, then," I suggest in a snobby voice, making her laugh again. She presses her lips to mine before I can say anything else. I'm expecting her to pull away, but she stays for a bit longer. I pull her closer to me by the waist, and she smiles against my lips before kissing me again. It doesn't last long, but every bit of it is worth it.

"We should do jobs for Mrs White more often," I joke, and she laughs for the millionth time today. It's been a good day.

...

Ellie and I both called our mums to see if we could go home together. Ellie's mum was fine with it, and my mum was reluctant but said yes. We're now both waiting at the back of the school for Ellie's mum to arrive in her car. I glance over at Ellie, who is sitting on a ledge next to me.

"Do you think your mum will like me?" I ask nervously. She puts her hand over mine.

"Don't worry," she assures me. "She'll love you. I do, and people say I'm my mother's daughter. It can't be all that different, can it?" I shrug.

"I guess not," I reply with a smile, which she returns. At that moment, Ellie's mum's car pulls up outside the school. Ellie takes my hand and squeezes it as her mum gets out of the car. When she sees us sitting together, she walks towards us and smiles.

"Hi," she greets, offering her hand which I shake. "I'm Ellie's mum, Janine. You must be Ricky."

"That's me," I confirm. "It's nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too," Janine says. She then turns to Ellie. "I trust he's been taking care of you."

"Yes, Mum, he has," she laughs. "Let's go, then."

Janine gets back into the driver's seat, and Ellie and I sit in the back together. On the car ride home, I hear a bit about Janine, and learn that she's very kind, considerate and funny. I also hear a few stories about when Ellie was little, most of which Ellie is embarrassed by, but she still laughs at all of them. When we arrive at her house, Ellie and I decide to head upstairs to her room.

"I'll be downstairs if you need anything," Janine calls up the stairs.

"Yep," Ellie replies. Then she turns to me. "Well, this is my room." It's a lot cleaner than mine, to be honest.

...

I still can't get over the way my heart races when I'm with Ellie. I feel as if nothing else, and no one else, matters in the world, because she's there in front of me. It feels as though time slows down whenever we spend time together.

I just don't want to let her slip away from me.
