Ellie's POV.
He's pretty tall, and his hair is a light brown, with a blonde streak on one side. Our eyes meet. I'm about to smile at him, but his eyes dart away quickly.
"His name is Ricky," Mr Hayes informs us. "And I'd like you all to make him feel welcome."
Ricky walks into the classroom and takes one of the empty seats.
Next to me.
"Ok, enjoy your day, everyone!" Mr Hayes says before exiting the room.
"Well, I think we should do something we always do when we have a new student," the teacher suggests. "We'll go around the room, and I want you all to say your name, something you like, and maybe one of your fears. Rosie, you can start," she says to a brunette sitting at the front.
After doing this exercise, I learn that Ricky's full name is Ricky Dillon, he's afraid of spiders, and he likes to sing but apparently isn't that good. I also notice upon listening to him that he has a little bit of a lisp. I find it almost cute.
When it's my turn, I tell everyone that my name is Ellie Waters, I like to read and that I'm afraid of love. I say that part quietly because I know I'd probably get bullied over it.
After class, I head to my locker to put my books away, and just my luck, Ricky's locker is right next to mine. I avoid eye contact with him as best as I can.
"H-hey," he says nervously. I turn to look at him.
"Hi," I reply.
"Uh, I'm Ricky," he introduces.
"And I'm Ellie," I respond before going back to putting my books away, and getting a snack bar from my bag.
"Look, since I'm new here..." Ricky continues. "Do you think you could help me out a little?"
This time, when I look back at him, his dark brown eyes are staring directly into my green ones.
"Sure, I guess," I answer him with a smile.
"Ok, thanks," he smiles back. "See you later." He walks away from me, and I am left standing there, wondering if I am actually falling in love with Ricky Dillon or not.
