Ricky's POV.
Yesterday, I had my first kiss with Ellie. I've had a few girlfriends back in LA, but those relationships only lasted a few months and meant nothing. Although I say it every time, I feel like I might actually get somewhere with Ellie. I feel like she means something.
Today is a Saturday. Ellie gave me her number earlier in the week, so I decide to call her. She picks up after a few rings.
"Hi Ricky," she greets me in a cheery voice. "What's up?"
"Hey Ellie," I say. "Not much. Are you busy today or tomorrow?"
"Not really, no," she answers. "Did you wanna hang out or something?"
"That would be good. Why don't we meet at a cafe somewhere?"
"Sounds good," Ellie says. "There's one called Third Wave, just down the road from school. Why don't we meet there at, say, 1pm today?"
"Sure," I confirm. "See you there."
"Bye," she says, clearly smiling from her tone of voice, before hanging up.
At 1pm, like I promised, I head down to Third Wave to meet Ellie. When I get there, she has already arrived. She looks gorgeous, wearing a pale turquoise knitted sweater, black leggings and navy blue ballet flats. She's on her phone, and when she looks up and sees me, she flashes me that beautiful smile.
"Hey," she says as I walk towards her.
"Hi," I reply, giving her a hug. "How've you been?"
"Pretty good, since we literally saw each other yesterday," she jokes, and we both laugh.
We sit down at a table and order our coffees. While we wait for them, Ellie breaks the silence.
"You know, I've never really had a boyfriend before," she admits.
"Yeah, you've said before that you're afraid of love," I point out. She looks down at her feet, somewhat ashamed of the statement. I reach out and put my hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry about it," I assure her. "It's nothing to be ashamed of in front of me." I smile, and she returns it half-heartedly.
"How about you?" She asks. "Have you ever had a girlfriend before?" I nod slowly.
"If you could even call them girlfriends," I inform her. "They were more like things to pass the time so I didn't feel like a forever alone loser. All except one I was set up with." We exchange annoyed expressions.
"That's literally the last thing I would want," she says.
"Uh-huh," I agree. Our coffees arrive just after I say that. Ellie thanks the waiter and takes a sip of her latte.
"You're not like the other girls I've 'dated', though," I tell her. She blinks at me.
"What do you mean?" She asks, confused.
"Well..." I don't know how to word it. "None of those other girls meant anything. Like I said, they were time passers that I was set up with by my friends. I didn't love them. They all ended after some time because we didn't feel right for each other. But not you. I can see myself having a long, happy relationship with you. I know you might be afraid. But I'm gonna do my best to help you get over that fear." I stare directly into her sparkling green eyes. "I'm gonna do my best to help you understand."
She smiles at me. "Then I'm ready for the adventure," she beams, and I laugh.
{Hey everyone! Sorry this chapter isn't that good 😕 I tried my best. I wanted to do something simple because I have exams coming up, and I need to study and stuff. So I might not be updating as much, but I'll do my best. Thanks so much for being patient with me, and even if you're one of 3 people who read a chapter, thank you. Because knowing that people read my work is incredible. I'm gonna stop rambling on now. Hopefully see you soon! xx}
