"Do you dare me?" he asked, his eyes dancing.
"To what?" I asked cautiously.
"Jump in the bay," he replied casually.
"You would really do that?" I asked unconvincingly.
"Have you forgotten that I'm part of the most daring group on this side of Melbourne. Daresundays! We'll do anything that crazy. But you have to do it with me," he was grinning like mad.
"Are you crazy?! We'll get...wet!" I exclaimed.
"That's the only thing that you're worried about? You only live once." He grabbed my hand.
"Ok on the count of three we'll jump in!" I looked down at Jai's hand wrapped around mine and then started to nod. How could it hurt? Its just a little water.
"Three, two, one, GO!" Jai yelled. We both sprinted towards the end of the path, the water looking even more menacing and cold as it came up towards us. SPLASH!!
I hit the water with a crash and squealed as I sank beneath the surface, water rushing into my mouth. I opened my eyes to see the blurry sun glaring through the water's dark rays and I kicked upward, the sun growing brighter.
My lungs breathed in the sweet air as I broke the surface, hearing Jai laughing, shaking his head so that a handful of drops pelted towards me.
"Wasn't so bad was it?" Shooting me that killer smile.
"No," I replied, melting for the second time. I swam towards the concrete where Jai was puling himself up onto dry ground.
"It was worse when Beau pushed me in the othertime and I was caught off guard, such a retard," Jai shook his head, smiling all the time as he glanced down at me and pulled me out of the water.
"Whoops," I bumped against him and our eyes locked, feeling his warm breath on my cheeks, spreading to the rest of my face, drops from his hair sliding down onto my head. He leaned in towards me, his beautiful eyes closing slowy as he got closer to my face.
"I..I better go," I stuttered taking a step back. This was all happening too fast, was Jai Brooks really falling for me? That wasn't possible.
"I better get back home." I walked off but turned back to see Jai staring back after me.
"I'll see you again Julia, I promise." A smile pulled at my lips.
"I'll be waiting, I love you Jai Brooks, I always have!" I ran off before anything unexpected would come from my mouth.
This was too much for my head to get around.
