John P.O.V
I laughed along with laf and herc as Alexander dances with his wife. I watched as he sways Eliza around the floor beaming at her eyes full of love. I felt tears prick my eyes. "Laurens are you ok" I swiftly turned around to see laf and herc with worried faces. "I'm fine" I respond " just need some fresh air. I ran away dashing toward the door. Once I reached it I opened it and slammed it behind me. I was standing on a beautiful balcony.

"Only the best for Eliza".

I remembered Alex saying that to the gang. I sighed.

She's smarter
She funnier
She prettier
She's.. not me

I let out a quiet sob. He's so happy with her I should be happy for him. I'm a terrible friend. I could hear the celebrating through the door and then I heard Alexander's laugh. His beautiful, adorable laugh that I fell for. Then I hear a different laugh a soft and gentle one. Eliza. I got up of the floor and brushed myself off I need to be happy for Alex.
I need to move on
I need to know that...

That I'll never be her
That's ok being his friend is enough

I slowly go back inside to the party.
I raise my glass.

"Alright Alright that what I'm talking about now give it up for the maid of honour Angelica Schuyler"

I smiled as Angelica gave her speech though she seemed kinda upset

Alex is happy so I'm happy

*At Laurens house*
I flop onto my couch tonight was a long night

"Honey your home"

"Hi Martha" I mumbled

"Someone dropped off a letter for you"

"Who?"

" That friend of yours Alexander I think it was"
She handed me the letter and once she left the room I tore it open.

Cold in my professions warm in my friendships I wish my dear Laurens it might be in my power,by action rather than worse to convince you that I love you. ......
