Amortentia

John's  P.O.V
'Shit' I thought rushing down the corridors 'late for class again'

I burst into the potions room getting everyones attention. I turned red with all the eyes on me.

"Professor Slughorn I'm sorry that I'm late-"

He cut me off "Mr Lauren's this is the fourth time this week I'm sorry but 10 points from Gryffindor."

All the Gryffindors in the room sighed. Well besides for Laf and Herc who were giving me an encouraging smile.

I mumbled another sorry as I made my way to my seat beside a certain Slytherin.

"Hey Lexi" I huffed sitting down.

He kept his eyes on the potion but said "hey John" right back.

Suddenly I noticed the smell of the room. I sniffed a couple of time before glancing at Alex who was still brewing the potion.

"Yo Alex" I chimed.

"Yeah?"

"How much cologne did you put on today" I questioned "and for god sake how much shampoo did you use, plus I can literally smell you parchment."

Finally he stopped brewing and looked up at me.

"John do you know what potion we are brewing" his face had gone pale.

"Nope couldn't care really" I laughed.

"You should we're brewing amortentia" Alex told me as if I should get what that means.

"And?" I looked at him in an amused sort of way.

He sighed "you have no idea what amortentia does do you."

"Not a clue" I admitted.

He turned back to the cauldron muttering "and this is why your not in Ravenclaw."

"Hey!" I defended.

Alex chuckled.

Professor Slughorn spoke up "Alright for the people who may have missed it" he glared at me "Maria can you please explain what potion we are brewing and what it does."

"Must certainly sir" Maria said glancing at me "We are brewing amortentia the worlds strongest love potion it smells different to each person as it's smell varies on who or what your attracted to."

My breath hitched as I noticed why Alex had been so panicked. I had smelled him.

I blushed dark red while professor Slughorn thanked Maria for explaining.

Neither me or Alex spoke for the rest of the lesson. I fiddled with my hands knowing I was completely screwed.

The moment class was dismissed I sprinted out of the classroom knowing lunch was next so I wouldn't miss any classes I sprinted to the Gryffindor tower.

It was the only place I was safe from Alex finding me. Alex wouldn't know the password because he's a Slytherin so I told the fat lady the password (chocolate frogs) and crawled through the portrait hole.

I sprinted up to the boys dormitory's that I shared with Herc and Laf and collapsed onto my bed.

I just told Lexi I had a crush on him. Well not exactly but he knows now and there is no changing that. Well unless I had a time turner. Sadly I do not.

I held back tears not wanting to be vulnerable but no one was there. What was I so afraid of. God dammit I'm suppose to be brave.

A single tear fell down my face.

Just then I heard a soft knock on the door. I wiped my tear thinking it was probably just Laf and Herc wondering why I wasn't at lunch.

"Come in" I murmured trying to regain composure.

To my surprise Alex walked into the room looking at his feet.

"Alex?" I was shocked "how the hell did you get in here."

"Laf and Herc gave me the password" he said shutting the door.

"Oh."

There was an awkward silence for a good two minutes.

"Listen John about Potions-" Alex started but I cut him off.

"No I don't want to talk about it" I snapped.

"John" Alex said softly.

"No you have no idea how humiliating that was, Jesus Christ you couldn't even look me in the eye, you were so disgusted you couldn't even speak to me" I rambled on not noticing Alex walking closer to me.

"I'm embarrassed Alex and you can't blame me either" I sighed hiding my face with my hands.

I felt the bed dip now knowing he was sitting next to me.

He pulled my hands away from my face and smiled not letting go of my hands. I looked down at the bedsheets not wanting to look at him directly.

"John I'm not disgusted just surprised that's all" he told me truth lacing his words.

"Why would you be surprised" I mumbled.

"I was surprised because I couldn't get over how such an amazing,brave and kind guy would ever find a deadbeat like me attractive" Alex chucked.

My eyes widened and I finally looked up at Alex "your not a deadbeat your a talented, ambitious,cunning and a beautiful person."

Alex smiled wider "thanks and Lauren's I like you a lot like so much."

I giggled "I like you to Lexi."

With that he leaned in a pressed his soft lips against my chapped ones. I kissed back instantly feeling butterflies dance in my stomach.

After awhile we pulled back for air grinning like idiots.

"You know" I said "people are going to talk about a Slytherin and a Gryffindor relationship."

"Let them talk Draco and Harry got through it didn't they and so did Neville and Blaise" Alex pointed out.

"Ya I guess" I agreed.

"And so can we" he pecked my lips "now come on I'm starving and lunch is almost over."

I laughed taking his hand while getting off the bed "Alright let's go."

We walked to the great hall hand in hand. The moment we walked in everyone look at us. Some smiled and others scowled but Laf, Herc, Maria and the schylur sisters flipped their shit.

I led Alex over to Gryffindor table and sat next to Laf and Herc. Peggy and Eliza ventured over from the Hufflepuff table and Angelica and Maria made their way over from the Slytherin.

We all sat at the Gryffindor table causing people to look at us strangely
but we couldn't care any less.

Peggy giggled at Alex and my hand intertwined with one another "I ship it."

"Everyone does mon ami" Lafayette laughed.

"Lams for life" Herc commented.

"Well I have some good news" I said squeezing Lexis hand "Lams is canon."

The group erupted in cheers once again causing strange looks.
