Alexander braced himself outside his new college dorm. He had just transferred schools and he was incredibly nervous about meeting his new dorm mate. He had hated his last one granted they both hated each other equally. Still he was hoping for a pleasant roommate this time. Someone he could get along with.

Alexander took a deep breath then opened the door using the key he was given. He was shocked by what he saw. A boy sat on one of the beds listening to music and furiously scribbling in his notebook. He had bouncy curly hair that was tied up into a ponytail and freckles scattered across his face. He had dashing green eyes that matched the green sweatshirt he was wearing.

I know what your thinking. Why was that so shocking for Alexander. You see the boy looked exactly like his imaginary friend he made up a long while okay just older. Alexander gaped in the doorway. The boy with headphones looked up and raised his eyebrows. Alexander shook of the shock.

The boy took off his headphones "um hi?"

"Oh I'm hi" Alexander hated the awkwardness of the situation "I'm Alexander Hamilton I'm replacing your old roommate."

"Oh ya" The boy got of his bed "nice to meet you Alex my names John Lauren's."

Alexander ignored the way his heart skipped a beat when John called him Alex. He also ignored the fact that his imaginary friend was also named John.

John continued "anyway you can unpack your stuff over there I hope your a better roommate than my last one."

"What was so wrong with your last one?" Alex asked.

"He was just a jackass" John rolled his eyes at the thought of him "his name was Charles Lee we got into a fist fight and he was made move rooms. I think his roommate is Samuel Seabury now but I'm not sure."

"Well I don't plan on fighting you" Alexander smiled and John snorted "but my old roommate was also a dickhead so hopefully your better company then he was."

"I don't know my friends call me a dickhead a lot" John laughed.

Alexander joined the laughter as he started unpacking. He still couldn't get off his mind that John looked so much like his old imaginary friend. He didn't want to mention it in fear of sounding crazy. He and John so far were getting along well. Of course Alexander didn't want to mess that up.

It was strange though. When Alexander was little he would go on fake dates with this imaginary friends he had named John. He'd imagine John protecting him for his father and taking caring off him when him and his mother became ill. Now that he thought of it John was more of an imaginary boyfriend than an imaginary friend.

Little did Alex know as John moved back to his bed he was also in pure surprise. As when John was younger he created an imaginary friends called Alex and Alexander Hamilton just so happened to fit his description just older. John has the same reasoning for not mentioning it. He didn't want to sound like a mad man.

When John was younger he used to imagine Alex and him facing the world when the world stood against them. You see when John was younger he was never interested in girls. His friends would talk about their crushes and the most prettiest girls in the class and John would stay quiet. While they gawked at the girls John was busy admiring the boys. He had told his father and he soon learned that doing so was a mistake. John still doesn't speak with his father. He used to picture that Alex was his boyfriend and they were both out and proud together. John used to love living in that fantasy.

"So..." John trailed off "what are you interested in?"

"Um" Alexander thought for a moment "I love to write."

"Really?" John questioned.

This was freaky. John used to imagine Alex writing the most beautiful love poems and stories to him.

"Yeah" Alexander smiled "I've been told I'm pretty good at it then again I've also been told I write like I'm running out of time."

John matched his smile "that seems cool I can't write to save my life."

Alexander chuckled.

"I'm serious though" John laughed "my hand writing is utter shit and my story wiring is worse."

"Maybe I can give you some lessons" Alexander teased.

John blushed slightly "I need it."

Alexander finished packing "Alright what are you interested in?"

"Turtles" John answered simply.

Alexander raised an eyebrow "what?"

His imaginary friend John loved turtles.

"Turtles" John repeated.

"Elaborate" Alexander urged.

"I don't know what to say" John shrugged "I just love turtles I always have."

Alexander smiled "that's cute."

John blushed dark. Despite freaking out internally Alexander didn't falter on the outside over what he just said.

"I have a turtle if you want to see" John moved away from the comment.

Alexander nodded rapidly "of course I do."

"I'm surprised you didn't even mention the tank" John said moving over to it "it's usually the first thing people comment on."

Alexander  shrugged "I just didn't notice it."

Of course he didn't notice it. The person he made up as a child stood right in front of him.

John pointed to the small turtle in the tank "his name is Tim."

"Tim the turtle" Alexander smiled "I like it."

"Anyway do want to watch a movie or something?" John asked.

"Do I get to pick the movie?" Alexander questioned.

John laughed "sure but don't pick trash."

Alexander nodded "we're watching Spiderman-"

John cut Alex off "which one?"

"If you had let me finish" Alexander tutted "Spiderman into the spiderverse."

"Fuck yes!" John cheered.

John quickly put the movie on and sat on the couch with Alex. Although the movie is a cinematic masterpiece neither of the two could concentrate on it. How could they? Their imaginary dream guys were sitting right beside them.
