I'm in love with you

John Laurens and Alexander Hamilton had been best friends ever since Alex had moved from the Caribbean to New York. The two had clicked instantly and Alex had quickly joined John's group of friends. As John had expected Alex was quickly a hit with the ladies of the school and admittedly some of the boys. Very soon two of the Schuyler sister were on his trail. For months Angelica and Eliza had been pining after the boy. When Eliza finally asked him out everyone was shocked that he declined politely. Practically the whole school would give their arm to date a Schuyler sister and he was just giving up that chance. People had questioned him on it but he just shrugged it off and said he only sees her as a friend. Some speculated that it was because Alex had a crush on Angelica but he denied that too. So who had gained the boys interests?

John and Alex sat in class flicking paper across the room at each other.

"For the last time" Mrs Washington turned around from the board "Alex and John if you flick one more piece of paper I'll send you to the principals office."

"In all fairness Mrs" John retorted "we warmed you that if you put us sitting this far away from each other there would be consequences."

"Exactly" Alex agreed "if we were sitting next to each other this would be quieter and we would not be disturbing the rest of the class."

"Really this is on you" John nodded.

Mrs Washington looked absolutely disgusted and insulted with the pair. You could hear Lafayette and Hercules trying to hold in their laughs and Peggy failing to hold in her snort.

"Peggy Schuyler" Mrs Washington glared at her "do not test my patience."

Peggy nodded but was still giggling slightly.

"Alexander and John" Mrs Washington began a dangerous tone in her voice "I doubt you two want to deal with the wrath of Mr Washington the principal so I suggest you stop now."

The two rolled their eyes as the class continued. Once the bell rang everyone quickly left the classroom to get outside of the school. Alex and John walked to the exit next to each other.

"Bitch" Alex said referring to Mrs Washington.

John laughed "she's you mom."

"I'm adopted" Alex corrected him.

"Tomato tomoto" John shrugged "you love your parents and you know it."

Alex huffed knowing he was right.

They walked outside together glad that they had a free class and got all their homework done there. Alex had to wait for Mr and Mrs Washington to leave the school and John always walked home so they were in no rush. They found it funny watching people scramble to their buses and chasing after them as they drove way. Alex and John continued to walk and talk across the schools lawn. Suddenly John tripped on a twig and started to stumble. The two boys were startled as John toppled onto Alex. They collided with the ground. John blinked a couple of times and Alex face flushed. They stared into each other's eyes for longer than necessary before John scrambled off of Alex.

"Sorry" he fumbled.

"It's not a big deal" Alex looked away his heart pounding.

"Um well I'll see you later" John stood up.

"Ya later" Alex replied and watched as John walked away.

"Damn" he breathed out holding his heart "fuck."

For the next few days everything was normal. The same Alex and John they always was but soon Alex started to become distant. Slowly but surely Alex started avoiding John more. At lunch he would disappear no one could find him anywhere. Only Alex knew that he would go to Mr Washington's office for lunch and rant to him. Soon John would only catch glimpses of Alex during the day. His text messages to him would be left on read and if they ever made eye contact in the corridor or in class he would look away. John was starting to get worried and pissed.
