It was around 5 o’clock when L and I finally surfaced from my bedroom in AB2. After our being out all night and our venture in the morning we had been tired enough that we probably could have slept through the whole day and the next night but we decided we should probably show ourselves so that people didn’t come looking to check if we were dead or not.

We passed by the medical bay and the isolation chambers, and I could hear the dragon chuckling about some discovery or something. I didn’t even want to ask because as of late Jake hadn’t found anything of use.

L pulled her arm around me and I nestled close to her, noting that we both smelled mildly of sweat and she even still smelled a little of my body spray. We had decided not to hide anything as we could deal with a bit of teasing, but if it wasn’t for her I would have suggested showering to at least get rid of B.O. But L had literally woke me up five minutes before, wearing my Hogwarts t-shirt and a pair of my navy blue pyjama bottoms and told me we should go down to the main meeting room as soon as possible.

Still in a sort of hormonal daze I had complied but only then was I seeing the downside of my actions when we were thirty seconds away from a room full of people who would see our tousled hair and the purple mark on L’s throat and know exactly how we had spent our morning. I’d just be glad they weren’t going to check my back for scratch marks!

Thankfully, when we reached the room hardly anyone noticed as some big news had obviously just been broken to them. Brad was half smiling, but looked slightly agonised and stressed as Ava Rose and Casey bustled around Ellie, cooing and placing their hands on her stomach as she glowed and grinned at the attention.

It was quite obvious James and Harry were oblivious to the fact that it might be theirs as I could see James clutching Lucy’s green scarf in his lap beside the dead television and Harry trying to play some kind of card game with Tristan which he appeared to be losing.

To my surprise, Louis was sitting by the window, smiling and not in way which would make you presume madness. L lead me over to him quietly and sat down, watching him watch the zombie amble aimlessly across the grounds.

“Quite beautiful, isn’t it?” He said, noticing we were there.

“The zombie?” I said, grimacing

“The sky” He replied “It’s like someone made a mistake with their paint palette when they were trying to paint a regular one,”

“A beautiful mistake” Said L, taking in the breathtaking blue with the light darts and patches of yellow and orange light which broke through the coming night, giving the effect that a heavy velvet fabric had been torn over a fire.

“Eleanor was a beautiful mistake,” Louis whispered “She was too delicate, too perfect for this life.” His voice cracked “She deserved a world where she could live. She always wanted just for me to be happy, she never did anything for herself, she always did everything with the intentions of other people in mind. And that’s... that’s how sh..she died, in the end. She saved me, and died in my place,”

“Oh, Louis, it isn’t your fault” Whispered L, putting her hand on his chest, where his heart was

“Shh sh I know I know!” Louis batted her away “She always said that if she died I shouldn’t beat myself up about it because she knew I loved her more than the world and she said that I should let her go because she never wanted me to be sad at all” he gulped “I’ve let her down, I guess. But this is me not letting her down anymore” He whispered, closing his eyes so tears spurted from beneath. “This is the last time, the last time I’m going to cry for you, El, know I love you, always. I will never forget you.”

When people say it is the last time for something, it usually isn’t. They find themselves ruining their diet or their new year’s resolution early on. But Louis didn’t.

Louis Tomlinson did never again cry for Eleanor Calder, his lost girl.

L looped her hand through mine, steering me away from Louis and towards Ellie, who was smirking knowingly and patting her stomach with her one arm.

“Looks like you guys had fun” She gestured towards the purple mark on L’s neck “Lots of it! It’s going to be you sitting in the pregnancy hot seat if you aren’t careful L!”

“How can it be?” She said, puzzled once again by common conversation and seemingly the realisation that other people did not have much emotion “We used contraception, something which you carelessly lacked when you decided to have intercourse with more than one man. You have a very likely chance of contracting an STI if you do not try and be more careful with your shameless infidelity”

“I just mean condoms aren’t 100% affective, woah” Replied Ellie, taken aback but not taking L’s comment to heart.

“Actually they’re 98% effective, which means only two from every 100 women can become pregnant after using them”

“Okay, maybe you won’t be pregnant, it was a joke anyway”

“Oh...” L replied, biting her lip “Sorry I sometimes get a bit robotic when it comes to jokes... I don’t really get them unless there is quite a lot of vocal inflection so I’m not sure if you are serious or not sometimes”

“It’s okay” I wound my arm around her shoulders

“How are you anyway?” asked L, shaking off her joke faux pas and pointing towards Ellie’s stomach.

“Fine, since you last asked me earlier today, I haven’t given birth or anything,” She caught L’s mildly puzzled expression “Sarcasm” She stated “Sorry, it’s hard to shake a habit”

“It is okay, I did think you couldn’t be serious, it just takes me a minute” L smiled.

“Okay, so what do you have planned for the rest of the day?” Ellie was grinning slyly again “Anything... fun?”

“Why are you so interested?” I replied, smirking.

“Becaaaause!” She said in a long drawn out way “I just doooo!”

“Well actually,” Said L “We are going to take a shower, then go and help Ava and Harry with making the food.”

“Enjoy your... shower” Ellie winked “Make sure it’s nice and hot!”

“Oh god she can be embarrassing!” L exclaimed when we reached the corridor which lead towards the bathrooms “I did not know what to say!”

“Mmm, yeah” I replied

“Why is she obsessed with sex?” L asked and I burst out laughing. “What? What did I say that is funny?”

“It’s not what you said it’s just you!” I laughed “You’re funny” I grabbed her arm and spun her around so we hugged and our noses touched like a cheesy couple in a romance movie.

“This is the part where you’re supposed to kiss me” She whispered looking up from underneath her eyelashes.

“I know” I replied quietly, pulling her closer.

A/N Wow I have updated so many times tonight it proves I don't have a life! This hopefully should end the awkwardest moments as the next chapter will take place about three or four months after this one. I'm sorry the L and Connor stuff is so embarrassing, I just can't!!! Hopefully in the next few chapters you will get to see a bit more from the characters who haven't done a great deal in a while, and the whole dodgy teenage love story thing can take a back seat because half of it is making me cringe to write!

Anyway, hope you enjoyed this collection of chapters, and sadly the end of this book is in sight. I have planned about five more chapters so I think that's what I will stick with, but I WILL do a sequel/prequel thing because there are too many loose ends to tie up on the ending I am planning.

Sorry this AN was so long, Ily
