minhee opened the cafe doors to let herself in with her earbuds blaring music into her brain. she took in the aroma of baked goods and coffee combined, taking off an earbud and looking up at the menu.
she fell in line, scrolling through her phone quietly as she awaited to be called.
"next!"
minhee looked up and walked to the register.
tearing her eyes off her phone, she saw a boy with white-blonde hair looking at her boredly, leaning against the register.
oh no,
he's cute!
"h-hello, can i have a caramel macchiatto and a strawberry creep-- i mean crepe! strawberry cake, please?" she stuttered.
"sure, name?"
"kang ma-ma-manhee... i-i-i mean minhee!! kang minhee!" she exclaimed, a strawberry red blush blooming onto her cheeks.
"well, your order will be up soon, ma-ma-manhee," the boy chuckled, causing minhee to blush a shade deeper.
"oh god, ah sorry if i embarrassed you." the boy apologized, gulping.
"o-oh it's okay," minhee smiled and walked to a nearby table. "
did i really say that?" she whispered as she took her seat and recovered from the incident. this is why she doesn't like to talk to people.
she sighed as she plugged her earbud into her ear again, drowning her worries into her music again.
three songs went by and minhee wondered where her order was. she looked up and saw the same boy walking over with her drink and cake in hand. she took her earbud again.
"sorry, you didn't seem to be getting your order anytime soon. i thought you left so," the boy lopsidedly smiled as he set down the cake and drink onto her table.
"oh no, how many times did they call my order?" minhee asked worriedly.
the boy shrugged. "maybe about nine? ten?"
"wh-what?!"
"just kidding, maybe like five. mind if i sit?" he asked.
yeah, i'm kinda waiting for someone and i have a bad feeling he'll be pissed that you're sitting in his seat.
"nah, it's okay."
nice, minhee.
she watched as the boy took off his slightly messy apron and folded it into his lap, revealing his white dress shirt.
minhee pulled her earbud cord out of the headphone jack, not knowing that her music would blare out after pulling it. surprise, surprise, the loudest part of her music blared out throughout the coffee shop, capturing the attention of customers. minhee panicked and furiously pressed down on the "volume down" button, silencing her music.
the stares tore away from her and returned to their business. minhee, on the other hand, was still in shock over what happened, feeling heat rise up to her cheeks. she closed her eyes in attempt to calm herself down.
"so... day6, huh?"
minhee pried her eyes open and saw the boy grinning at her.
"are you a fan of them?" he asked.
minhee nodded furiously. "quite so."
"i thought it was day6, i swear i heard blood on your earbuds. they were quite loud, y'know." he chuckled.
"were they really loud?!" she asked, widening her eyes.
"mmm, loud enough for me to hear it."
"oh great..." she hid her face into her hands.
"i didn't mind though, day6 is great." he smiled a gummy smile at her, making minhee smile a small smile back.
