Chapter 14
I felt the corners tugging into a smile as Becka and I made our way into the school's canteen, three months of dating Aila and I still hadn't gotten used to the fact that she was mine. Really mine. Her hair waved beautifully down her back, like a breathtaking waterfall, thats just hoow she was breathtakking.
"Close your mouth lover boy," Becka smirked, nudging me. We were a little bit farther down the lunch line than Aila. I cleared my throat, ready to get her attention when Becka dug her nails into my arm.
"Look," she hissed, narrowing her eyes. I followed her gaze to where Aila was standing, blushing and grinning, and standing there with all the cockiness in the world was Josh. His eyes were twinkling as he stared softly at Aila. Her lips moved quickly, a hand lingering on his chest; Josh nodded whispering into her ear making her burst into a fit of giggles.
"Judas," Becka called me, ripping my eyes from them I turned to stare into her amused aquamarine eyes. "Looks like you have competition," she winked, grabbing a tray and handing me one. I took it wordlessly, trying hard to make out the word from Aila's lips. Didnt she tell me she hated him? Plus wasnt his girlfriend pregnant?!
"Calm down Jude," she smacked a cheeseburger down onto my tray. She held my gaze, pursing her lips.
"Hey move it!" A lanky boy from my third period yelled. I dropped my gaze, grabbing a milk.
"I am calm."
"No you aren't," Becka grabbed my forearm dragging me to the table where the rest of the band sat, we passed by Aila's table. I smiled, waiting for her to tell me to sit with her as she usually did. She met my eyes, looking quickly away and smiling at her friend Clary.
Clary smiled at me apologetically, while Becka showed her the finger.
"Tell him guys," Becka demanded, glaring at Joel our guitarist. He was caught in a wierd headlock by Chris, the drummer. "Sit," she ordered me.
I sat watching Joel and Chris shuffle uncomfortably under her gaze.
"Tell him what?" Chris responded coolly, avoiding my gaze.
"What you saw at the party that Josh hosted."
Joel's eyes lit upp with understanding, "Ah, but I thought you said to keep it to ourselves."
"Fuck that," Becka cussed. I stared at her in shock she hardly ever cussed, only when she was pissed, like really pissed...
Joel sighed, looking at me straight in the eye. "We saw your girl sneaking upstairs with Josh."
The cheeseburger landed on my tray with a loud thud. "You what?" I could feel the beat of my heart getting louder and louder.
"And this isn't the first time," Becka's gaze hardened, she patted my hand awkwardly. "I didnt want you to find out this way but, Aila and Josh have something going on."
I swallowed, "She would tell me."
"No she wouldnt," said a deep voice behind me. Dimitri dropped his tray next to me, after not seeing him for months he still looked at me with that kindness that always made my stomach knot. Even after stealing Aila he couldnt hate me, we were brothers. I felt myself breaking under his gaze, he smiled sadly pulling his phone out.
"Look."
I felt my knees weaken, as Becka smirked, sliding closer. "In heavymetal you learn to play the game, and theres nothing like sweet revenge." She glanced behind us, where I could only imagine Aila was staring at us. Becka grinned, grabbing my collar and crushing her lips to mine.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
