Shadows of the Dead

As the trio made their way through the forest Ryuu couldn't help but notice Lucy was trembling in his arms as he walked. When he took a glance at her Ryuu saw the blonde's forehead gleaming with sweat, her face was pale as a ghost. The blonde let out a small whimper snuggling her head closer into Ryuu's shoulder gaining a worried look from that said teen.

With a sigh, Ryuu turned his head towards Goliath who wasn't that far behind with Dray sitting on his should and was about to tell him to stop when he saw a black blur heading towards them. With a shout, Ryuu commanded Goliath to duck as he dashed to the side of the road just as the figure ran past them. Ryuu quickly turned his head towards the direction of where the blur went only to be thrown across the ground Lucy being torn from his grasp in the process as he fell.

When he hit the ground, Ryuu tucked his body in so that he could roll into a kneeling position, with a grunt, from the force of hitting the ground Ryuu snapped his head up to see where his blonde friend was and saw Goliath standing in front of the unconscious Celestial Mage grasping a hold of what looked like a creature that came after them.

Its body was covered with a fix of black fur and scales, its tall reminded him of a snake's as it lashed around. Its head was of that of a  wolf growling as it tried to bite at Goliath's face, the rest of its body looked almost human if it wasn't for the fur and scales that were spread across its body. Its hands were human-like except for the dark claws at the end where the tip of its fingers was supposed to be.

With a small cry, Ryuu called upon his magic making his hand glow with blue flames that started to surround his whole body as he strikes at the creature that Goliath was holding off. When his fist made contact with the wolves face.

Instead of burning the fur off the wolf, the flames immediately froze the fur on the right side of the monsters face making the creature cry out in pain. Taking the opportunity of it being distracted Goliath sent an uppercut towards the creature's jaw making it go up before he slammed both his fist on top of its head sending it into the ground.

As this was going on Dray was kneeling down next to Lucy shaking her shoulder trying to wake up the older blonde. Only getting a small whimper of pain from the Mage, Dray made a mental note not to let Ryuu use a sleep charm on the Lucy ever again. When she tried to wake the Celestial Mage once again Dray noticed that red vain like swirls started to appear on the right side of Lucy's face. With a sharp gasp, Dray turned around to get Ryuu only to be face to face with a what looked like a clown with blood dripping from its mouth grinning at her with a predatorial gleam in its eyes.

When Dray was about to let out a terrified shriek the clown waved one of its long bonny arms and striked the blonde sending her towards a tree. After she slammed into the tree she saw the monster hover over Lucy who was still out cold with the red swirls growing along on her face.  Dray looked towards Ryuu and saw him making his way towards the clown leaving Goliath to fight off the wolf when another creature that resembled a snake pounced from one of the bushes tackling the silver-haired teen to the ground.    

Seeing that Ryuu and Goliath weren't going to be much of help Dray grabbed a hold of a tree branch that was laying on the ground and ran towards the clown that had a clawed hand near the older blondes face. When she was right next to it Dray let out a loud cry as she slammed the branch across the clown's face with a huge smacking sound along a loud crack come from the clown's jawline.

To Dray's horror instead of howling in pain, the monster snapped its head towards her it's jaw hanging limply from its mouth only the skin holding it in place. With her face paling at the sight, Dray let out a screamed in utter terror as the clown pounced away from Lucy to her. Making the girl hit the ground with a loud thud.
