One Imposter After Another

Everyone participating in the exams waited anxiously for the signal to start, Himika twirled a strand of white hair around her finger to pass the time. A loud voice on the speakers caught their attention as the gates were starting to be unlocked.

"I wish you all luck! Oh! And one last thing, just don't die." Anko said seriously.

Naruto gulped at Anko's words but prepared anyway.

"And start!" Anko yelled over the loudspeaker.

The gate was pushed open and all teams rushed inside the dark, creepy forest. Although to some, the forest was cozy. Team seven wasn't feeling too bad until a loud scream could be heard not too far away.

"W-was that a scream?" Sakura asked nervously.

"Yes." Himika answered simply.

Naruto was hiding his anxiety well, Sasuke kept a calm face, Sakura was scared out of her mind and Himika? She wasn't really affected by it. They continued on until Naruto stopped, making everyone else stop as well.

"I got to.... Um.... You know....." Naruto muttered before reaching for his zipper.

"Not in front of us!" Sakura yelled, punching him.

"Not so loud Sakura. What if an enemy is nearby?" Himika asked quietly.

Naruto disappeared behind the bushes and the rest waited for him to get back. Naruto was taking too long and everyone began to worry, but soon he came out from the bushes. Himika was immediately on guard, noticing that his scent and appearance was different. Sasuke was also on guard, taking notice of his weapons pouch on the wrong leg and that Himika was on guard.

"Whoa! That was a lot! I wrote my whole name!" The imposter yelled out.

"Gross!" Sakura squealed.

Sasuke hurled a kunai at the fake Naruto and watched as he dodged it quickly.

"Sasuke! Why would you do that?! He's an idiot but isn't that a little extreme?!" Sakura exclaimed.

"He isn't Naruto. He's a fake, and a really bad one at that." Sasuke replied.

"So, how could you tell?" The fake asked.

"Naruto is right handed, your weapon pouch is on the left leg. How would that work if he isn't left handed?" Sasuke answered.

"You don't smell like Naruto." Himika stated.

He looked surprised at Himika's answer, but ignored after a second and got rid of his disguise, revealing a male Amegakure ninja.

"I'll find Naruto." Himika said before dashing into the forest, following Naruto's scent.

Sasuke pulled out kunai and started to fight the Amegakure ninja.

"Hand over your scroll and no one gets hurt!" He ordered.

Sasuke scoffed and began fighting him, eventually the enemy gave up and retreated back into the forest. A minute or so passed and Himika came into the clearing with Naruto right behind her.

"That guy jumped me!" Naruto pouted.

Sasuke and Sakura sighed before the team continued walking a little ways until they reached a new part of the forest.

"We need a password, that way we can tell if anyone might actually be someone else in disguise." Sasuke started.

Himika opened her mouth to speak, but Sasuke's eyes told her not to say anything. Guessing that he had a plan, Himika kept quiet.

"The password is, 'When does a ninja strike?' And the answer is, 'A ninja waits until the time is right, when the enemy sleeps and drops his guard, when his weapons lie forgotten in the stillness of night, that is the moment for a ninja to strike.' Got it?" Sasuke finished his long password.

"Got it!" Sakura said immediately.

"Understood." Himika replied.

Naruto scowled. "I thought you said password, not pass-speech."

"I got it right away Naruto!" Sakura bragged.

Himika stayed silent, but nodded her head to agree with Sakura.

"Can't it be shorter?" Naruto asked.

"No." Sasuke replied.

Naruto was going to argue back, but a huge gust of wind sent them all in different directions, mostly ending up slammed against a tree. Himika wasn't affected by hitting the tree and dusted herself off to go find her team. She followed Sasuke's scent back to where he and Sakura were.

"Stop! What's the password?" Sakura asked. "When does a ninja strike."

Himika sighed and recited the password, word-for-word. Satisfied with her answer, Sakura stopped scowling. The three of them waited for their last teammate, soon an orange blob came into view. It looked exactly like Naruto, but of course Himika could tell it wasn't just by smell.

"When does a ninja strike?" Sasuke asked as soon as he stopped in front of them.

He recited it perfectly and Sasuke threw a kunai at the imposter.

"But Sasuke, he got the password." Sakura said, confused.

"Exactly, the real Naruto wouldn't be able to get the password. So you must be a fake." Sasuke said taking out a kunai.

"So you purposely chose a password that your team mate wouldn't remember?" He asked.

"I made the password long so that anyone who might have been listening would try to pretend to be Naruto." Sasuke replied.

"Very smart..." The fake muttered.

The imposter undid his transformation jutsu and revealed a female Kusagakure ninja. She pulled down her eyelid slightly, Sakura and Sasuke shuffled back, clutching their heads in pain. She smirked when she saw Himika wasn't affected by it.

'It must be a genjutsu if I can't see it.' Himika reasoned.

They both managed to break the genjutsu and glared at the ninja. She pulled out an earth scroll and taunted them with it before swallowing it whole. Sakura shivered in disgust. The enemy attacked, causing everyone to put their guard up. Himika fought with Sasuke as she wondered where Naruto was. The Kusa ninja fought using snakes and various other jutsus, Himika fought back, mostly trying to land a hit using taijutsu because she was best at it. Sasuke used his fire type jutsus, but eventually Sasuke began losing any hope he had of winning. He fished around in his weapon pouch before pulling out their heaven scroll.

'Sasuke you traiter.' Himika thought in distaste.

Before he could hand over the scroll Naruto finally arrived, snatching the scroll from Sasuke.

"Sorry Sasuke! I forgot the password!" Naruto exclaimed.

"Naruto!" Sakura yelled out, happy to see him for once.

Naruto turned to Sasuke, suddenly serious. "You must be a fake Sasuke. Handing over our scroll like that isn't what Sasuke would do."

Sasuke scoffed, but soon regained his composure to fight alongside Naruto. Himika, Naruto and Sasuke faced the enemy, ready to fight. Himika was ready to go, but what he said next made her blood run cold.

"It's been a while, Little Monster......"
