When we stopped apparating, we were standing in the trees at the edge of the field. Maddie groaned and fell on Phil, no longer able to support her own weight. He laid her on the ground and felt her forehead, "She's burning up."

"I think she needs water..." Lucas said.

Phil pulled an empty water bottle out of her quiver, "George fill this up."

"You know that'll kill her, right?"

"DO IT!" They yelled in unison, making me jump, despite my best efforts not to. I filled the bottle, per their command and despite my common sense.

Maddie snatched the bottle the moment it was full and all but shoved the liquid down her throat. When she finally stopped drinking and gasped for air, I stared unbelievingly at the bottle, "You drank that entire thing."

She smiled gingerly, "You might just wanna go ahead and put a spell on it to make it refill itself. I have a feeling I've developed a heavy reliance on it."

I nodded absentmindedly, "No kidding."

As she stood, with Phil's help, she addressed Lucas, "So what was your plan?"

Lucas grinned nervously, "I don't think you're gonna like it..."

"You're right. I don't like it."

Lucas sighed, "Do you have a better idea?"

"No," Maddie said. "But if you give me ten minutes, I'm willing to bet I will."

"What's your big issue with it?"

"I gotta agree with her." I said, "It's mixing two worlds together. We have no guarantee that it's even remotely possible, and even if we did, how the hell do we have any indication of succeeding with it?"

"Look," Lucas frowned at us. "I know I'm usually wrong about these kinds of things."

"That would be why I died the first time." Maddie commented.

"But, I'm positive that this is going to work. Just give me a chance."

It was silent for a moment as everyone dared the others to comment, then Maddie groaned, grabbing my arm and pulling me towards the position we'd discussed while yelling, "If I die again, you're going to hell for it!"

"Lucas, whatever you're doing, I suggest you hurry it up before Maddie passes out or Phil gets himself killed."

"It's actually rather difficult, so if you don't mind, I'd like to concentrate!" He yelled back, "You should be doing the same."

I groaned and focused back on the stabilizing dome that Maddie and I were somehow creating with elfin magic. Don't ask me how. It's extremely complicated and makes no scientific sense.

Phil and Opal were in the center of the dome, fighting each other with weapons and magic and whatever else they managed to get their hands on. Unfortunately, the fight seemed to be leaning towards Opal.

"Hurry up!" Maddie yelled.

"A little more..." Lucas murmured.

Phil fell to the ground and Opal pointed his own sword at his throat. Maddie screamed, "LUCAS!"

"NOW!" Lucas sent a spark of red from his wand towards Opal. It passed through the dome and seemed to become brighter as it hit Opal in the chest. She fell to the ground, eyes closed and lips pursed.

Maddie and I lowered the stability dome immediately. Phil sat up slowly, regaining his sword before checking for a pulse. He looked up, "Dead."

That's when I realized what we'd just done, and what I now had to do. "I gotta go..." I said unconsciously.

"What?"

"You guys can get Turnball without me."

Maddie stared at me, "No we can't!"

"You'll do great." With that, I was sprinting across the field, leaving three confused teenagers in my wake.
