Chapter XXXII

Jordan

"You know, I'm getting really tired of armies right now."

"Right there with ya!" Nevada yelled, "I'm never joining the military."

As I stabbed the last peacekeeper in the ranks that we'd been attacking, I turned to face her, "You know none of this is gonna mean a damn thing if we don't start killing off the villains that control these things."

Nevada rolled her eyes, "Were you watching the New York newscasts again?"

I shrugged, "It's more entertaining than most movies that currently exist."

"Fair enough." Nevada looked towards the numbers of ranks surrounding President Snow, "We're not gonna survive trying to get through those guards."

"Maybe it's not about getting through the guards." I smirked, "I think I have a plan."

"Am I gonna like this plan?"

"Doubt it."

She sighed, "Well then it's bound to be fun."

"Are you insane?!"

"Quite possibly." Nevada affirmed, "But either way, it'll end up being really fun, right?"

"You realize how low those odds are?" Maddie whispered furiously, "That's like trying to shoot a peanut off of a grape, off of an apple, off of a person's head, around another person and through Nearly Headless Nick."

I frowned, "That was extremely... graphic."

She glared at me, "That's my specialty."

"You don't miss, and you know it. Just give it a chance." Nevada said, "Or are you just gonna back away from a challenge?"

Maddie looked between us, then groaned, "I hate you. Go."

Nevada nodded and made her way towards the right side of the group, while I started towards the left. When we were on opposite sides, Nevada looked to me and smiled.

Here goes nothing.

Layering my voice in charmspeak, I stood and yelled, "Good afternoon, folks. This is your master charmspeaker, the one over here in the light pink. Would the left half of the flank guarding Mr. Snow please come towards me, and will the other half kindly make their way towards Ms. Springs, the lovely woman over there in the light blue. Thank you."

As the right half of the flank made their way towards Nevada and the left drifted towards me, Maddie immediately let loose an arrow that travelled through the the center of the separating group, where I hoped Snow was. I heard a thunk, then a louder one, and when I looked to Nevada, she nodded happily.

We ran back towards where Maddie stood and Nevada gave her a cheeky smirk, "Told ya."

Maddie rolled her eyes, "Haha, cute. Don't sass me. I will shoot you. If you don't mind, I'm gonna go kill another bad guy. Have fun with the army."

Smile was gone. "What?" Nevada coughed out.

Maddie stared at us, "Coin's still alive. That army's not gonna disappear till she's dead."

My eyes widened, "Shit, didn't think of that."

Maddie winked, "Try not to die."
