Trust Me
"Don't lie to me. I had many come up to tonight and tell me that you cheated." I looked at Auston with tears in my eyes.
"Babe I don't know what they told you but I never once cheated on you or even thought about cheating on you, I love you." I turned away from him not able to look at him.
Tonight I went out with some of the Leafs girlfriends and wives. A group of people came up to me and told me that Auston cheated on me. At first, I didn't know what to say but I had questions that needed to be answered. I asked them how they knew and when it happened.
"Auston I don't know what you do on your road trips. As far as I know your sleeping with a different girl every night." This whole conversation is killing. I never thought Auston would ever cheat on me.
"Y/N I am telling you the truth! I never cheated on you. Whoever told you that is just trying to get us to break up don't let them do that."
"I can't do this right now. I am going to stay the night somewhere else." I grabbed the bag I packed and walked out the door.
"Please don't go." Was the last thing I heard from Auston as I shut the door and drove down the street.
I moved to Toronto to be with Auston. I didn't know anyone except him and his teammates so there were only a few places I am able to go. Chances are Auston might show up at their place.
I knocked on the door hoping they would answer soon. I heard someone start to unlock the door and open it. I saw Mitch standing there confused.
"Mitch who's at the door?" Steph came around the corner. "Y/N are you okay?"
"No, not really."
"You asked him about it didn't you?"
"What happen?" Mitch asked stepping aside for me to walk in.
"I told Auston a group of people came up to me tonight and told me that he cheated on me. He told me that he didn't but I don't know what to think." They took me in the living room and I sat on the couch with Steph and Mitch on both sides of me.
"What are you talking about? Auston would never cheat on you. He can never stop talking about you. When we lose all he wants to do is see you because you make him feel better."
"You're just saying that because you're his best friend."
"No, I'm not. Did they say when he cheated?"
"On a road trip game." I could feel the tears in my eyes again.
"Which one?" Mitch kept asking questions.
"When you were in Buffalo the last time." Mitch sat there and thought about it for a minute and began to smile.
"Why are you smiling?" Steph asked her boyfriend. How is this a happy moment?
"He didn't cheat on you." I rolled my eyes. "I am being serious. I was with him every moment that we were in Buffalo even on our day off there."
"Yeah, you probably went out and weren't with him at some point and he hooked up with someone." I saw Mitch shake his head.
"We never went out to a bar or anything like that. Auston wanted to go visit your grandmother. So we spent the whole day with her and your aunt." I looked at Mitch to see if he was lying. He was either really good at lying or he was telling the truth.
"Auston never told me that he did that. Neither did my grandmother and aunt." No one said anything. He didn't cheat. "I messed up didn't I?"
"No you didn't but I think you need to go talk to Auston," Steph said.
"Yeah, I think your right." I got up from the couch and started to walk to the door.
"I think it would be best if we drive you. Your head may not be totally in it right now." Mitch said grabbing his keys.
Mitch was right my head wasn't in it. How could I believe people that I never meet before? How could I not trust Auston? I wouldn't blame him if he didn't forgive me.
I noticed we were back at the house but I always noticed that Auston car was gone and all the lights were off.
"I am going to call him."
I took my phone out and dialed his number. It rang three times and went to voicemail.
"He didn't answer."
"Let me try." Mitch took out his phone and called Auston.
"Hey man. I was just calling because I am outside your house and it looks like no one is home." "Wait are you serious?" "When tonight?" The conversation was starting to scare me. "Okay Let me know if you need anything." Mitch then hung up the phone.
"What happens? Where is Auston?"
"Y/N he is boarding a plane to Arizona."
"Wait, what? Why?"
"His mom called and said that his dad is in the hospital."
"Take me to the airport."
"His plane as already left."
"I am going to get another plane there."
Mitch and Steph took me to the airport. I was able to get a plane there in two hours. I just had to wait. Auston still wouldn't answer his phone.

Waiting felt like forever. I just got off the plane in Arizona. Mitch was able to figure out which hospital Auston's dad was at for me. I told my uber driver where to go. I was nervous to see Auston. What if he didn't want to see me. I accused him of cheating. I wouldn't want to see me if I was him.
Once I got to the hospital I went to the front desk and asked the nurse where Brian Matthews was. I kind of lied and told her I was Auston's wife. I knew she wouldn't let me back there otherwise.
I walked down the hallways to get to the room number the nurse gave me but I stopped when I saw Auston sitting there with his head in his hands. I slowly walked over to him and sat down.
"Mom I just need a minute." I froze I could hear in his voice that he's been crying.
I put my hand on his back and rubbed circles hoping to claim him down a little. I felt him take a deep breath and sit up straight and look at me. He looked a little confused.
"Are you doing here?"
"When Mitch called you I was in the car. He took me to the airport and I got the next plane here." I looked at my hands in my lap. "How is your dad?"
"He's good the way mom was saying over the phone it was like he was going to be here a while he is getting out tomorrow."
"Oh, I just thought something really bad happened because-"
"Becuase I was sitting here with my head in my hands?" I nodded my head. "I was worried about us."
"Mitch told me that the day they told me you cheated. You guys were in Buffalo and you took my grandmother and aunt out for the whole day. You never told me that."
"I had a day off and all I wanted to do was be with you so I hung out with your family to be close to you and hear the crazy stories they have of you." I smiled
"I am so sorry I didn't believe you."
"It's okay just next time trust me and talk to me about it okay?"
"Okay."
