Birthday Surprise
When Jeff asked me to move with him to Buffalo I thought he was crazy. My family was in North Carolina. But the love of my life was moving seven hundred miles way. My home was wherever he was. It might have taken me a little bit to get use to Buffalo but then only thing that matters is that I'm with Jeff and I couldn't ask for anything else.
I'm not one to really celebrate my birthday, my family and friends knew that. Jeff knew that. So today was just another day. Just another year older.
When I woke up I noticed right away that Jeff wasn't home. I normally woke up when He left for practice but I don't remember him leaving at all. I go to grab for my phone and I see a note on my phone with my name on it.
Y/N,
I know today is just another day but I just wanted to do a little something for you. Meet me at the rink at noon. I love you.
Jeff
I smiled and read it a couple more times. I looked at the time and saw I hand two hours to get ready and to be at the rink.

Once I pulled up to the rink I saw Jeff waiting there for me with a smile on his face. Seeing him I couldn't help but smile.
Jeff and I meet during his second season with the Hurricanes. I ran into him at the store at midnight. I just finished studying and realized I have any food in my apartment. I wasn't looking where I was going and my cart bumped into him. I felt so bad because one of the wheels went over is foot his I know I was going kinda fast so it had to hurt but he played it off like it was nothing.
Two days later I saw him again but at a Hurricanes' game. My dad gets season tickets every year and he couldn't make it to that game so he gave me the tickets and so I took one of my friends and sat right at time level. I saw Jeff during warm ups I didn't realize he was the Jeff Skinner. I don't know how I didn't recognize him at the store. I saw him look at some of the kids that were standing by our seats. He skated over and tossed a couple pucks over to them he glanced over in my direction and did a double take. He smiled and I saw his cheeks go a little pink. I knew mine were doing the same.
After the game my friend and I went to get something to eat after we order a group of guys walked in and I see Jeff walk in last. Some of them looked around and one looked at our table and nudged Jeff a little and point out way. He looked up and his eyes meet mine and seeing his smile again just gave me butterflies.
He started making his way to out table. My friend gave me a look and said he was going to use the bathroom even through she just went when we got here. Once he got over to where I was sitting he asked if he could take me out on a date and the rest was history.
The butterflies have never gone away. I have them right now just looking at him standing there in shorts and a Sabres hoodie.
I got out of the car and made my way over to him.
"Jeff babe its snowing and you have shorts are. Are you crazy?" I wrapped my arms around him and he did the same.
"I think you know that answer already. Come on." He placed a hand on my back and led me down the locker room.
"What are we doing?" He didn't answer my question. I saw Jake standing in the hall with a pair of skates in his hand.
"Jeff told me that you don' like to celebrate your birthday but Happy Birthday. These are for you." He hands he the skates. I looked over at Jeff and see he was now holding his own pari a skates.
"Thank you Jake." He gave me a smile looked over at Jeff pated his shoulder and walked down the hall. "Babe what is going on?"
He starts walking down the hall where it leads to the ice. He stopped at some chairs and points for me to sit. He helped me put on my skates and then puts his on. He offers me his hand and I gladly take it still not knowing what is going on.
"I know you don't like doing anything for your birthday and we normally just watch a movie and order some food but I wanted to make this one a little more special because you have done so much for me. When I got traded to Buffalo you didn't have to move with me but you did. You have been so supportive of me since you ran over my foot." I couldn't help but laugh. "I know you have been wanting to go skating so I thought I would take you skating here."
When got to the ice, I see a bunch of balloons all around the ice. I let go of Jeff's hand and got on the ice. I skated around and saw attached to the balloons where pictures of Jeff and I throughout the year we have been together. I turned around to look at Jeff and see a followed me out here.
"Jeff you didn't have to do this."
"I know but I wanted to and you might not like your birthday but I will alway love this day because it was the day the love of my life was born." I skated right into his arms and kissed him. He lifted me into the air.
"Jeff I love you so much. What you did here is amazing." I looked back at all the balloons around us.
"I can't take all the credit. Some of the boys helped me with the balloons but is was all my idea."
"I always knew you were a softy." I smiled up at him.
"The guys said the same thing."
