Chapter 29: Taking a Stand
Sam
His hands on me felt absolutely amazing. Every inch of my skin that his fingers trailed over burned with an ever-increasing desire. The kissing and touching just wasn't enough anymore. I wanted Ryan in every way possible.
I was just about to tell him this too, when I heard the faint sound of a door closing downstairs. That was probably Dad getting home from work. Was it that late already?
"Ryan," I said, although it came out more of a moan as he kissed my neck. "Ryan, we need to stop. I think my dad's home."
That still didn't stop him though. "Is he really going to come in here right now?" he asked. "We have a couple more minutes..."
Ryan then continued his kisses the rest of the way down my neck and over my collarbone. I wanted him to take off my shirt, so that he could kiss there too, instead of just running his hands under it.
Then my door burst open. "Sammy, baby, I just came to... What the fuck?"
Ryan jumped off me and I immediately sat up. My mother stood in the doorway, eyes wide in shock. I didn't really blame her - I never actually told her I was gay or that I was dating someone. But she had no right to barge into my room like this. Was Dad even home to let her in the house?
"Sammy..." she said after neither Ryan or I had said anything. "Why do you have another boy in your bed? And why was that boy kissing you?"
I took a shaky breath. "He's my boyfriend?" I didn't mean for it to come out as a question. Honestly, with the way her nose was flaring up a bit, I was sort of terrified of her in this moment. "I was going to tell you eventually."
"My name's Ryan, by the way. Not 'that boy'." I looked over at him to see that he was glaring back at her, his arms crossed over his chest. "And I'd like to know why you're here. And don't you know how to knock?"
"Ryan..." I whispered. He shouldn't have to deal with her. Not like that. "Stop."
He looked at me. "What? I'm curious."
I shook my head, looking back at Sarah. "I guess Ryan did have a point. What are you doing here? And did my dad let you in? I didn't think he was home yet?"
"Oh, I let myself in. But don't worry, I'm leaving."
Just as she was turning around to leave, the door downstairs closed again. The sound was louder this time, now that my bedroom door was open too. Now Dad must be home.
"Shit," Sarah muttered under her breath. She probably thought he'd come right up here and confront her or something. But she didn't realize that he usually went for the kitchen then the living room to watch some TV for a bit as soon as he got home from work, if it wasn't too late.
"Dad?" I called. "Come here!" Now he was bound to come and deal with Sarah, since I wasn't sure how to do that on my own. I still had no idea why she was even here in the first place.
Moments later, Dad and Sarah were staring each other down. Both were in my bedroom now, although I wasn't sure how that happened.
Sarah broke the silence between them first. "You corrupted our son," she said venomously. "I knew you never should have gotten involved with whatever his name is. Mike? Whatever it is. That bastard."
"You have no right to judge anything I've done in the last sixteen years, Sarah, especially when it comes to the way Mika and I raised our son."
"He's gay, Allen!" Sarah yelled, pointed at me and Ryan.
Ryan grabbed hold of my hand, squeezing slightly. It was reassuring, knowing he was here with me, even though I didn't need him to witness this.
"So what? Sam can be with whoever he wants to be, and if he wants to date Ryan, then he can." Then he turned to us. "Boys, why don't you head downstairs? You don't need to be here for this."
"It's your fault, Allen!" Sarah screeched before Ryan and I could even move. "If you hadn't decided to start fucking the damn babysitter you hired because you were too lazy to watch him yourself, then this never would have happened."
I stood up from the bed, fuming. "You don't know anything," I said with courage I didn't know I had. "Dad and Poppa have been the best parents I could have asked for, and they had nothing to do with me being gay. Even if you had stuck around when I was born, I still would have been gay. Frankly, I'm glad you left. You've brought nothing but confusion and craziness since you came back into my life. I feel so bad for Regal having to deal with you all the time. I hope she doesn't end up as crazy as you when she's older."
"Don't talk about my baby like that!"
"I thought I was your baby too? Or is that not what you keep calling me all the time?"
"Sam," Ryan muttered from behind me, reaching out to grab my hand. I didn't look at him. I needed to start speaking up for myself. I didn't want to be the quiet kid who got picked on anymore, and I definitely didn't need other people defending me.
"Sarah, you need to leave," Dad said sternly.
She let out an exasperated sigh, but thankfully didn't say anything else as she turned and stormed out of my bedroom. A moment later, we heard the front door slam shut behind her.
"When did she get here?" Dad asked me.
I shrugged. "A couple minutes before you? She let herself in. We were up here."
"She let herself in? Did you not lock the door?"
"I don't know. I thought we did?" I glance at Ryan, who only shrugged in response. We weren't exactly paying too much attention to the door when we got here, but I wasn't about to tell Dad that. "Maybe not. I'm sorry, Dad. It's not going to happen again."
He nodded before looking at my boyfriend. He then apologized for Ryan having to witness that. I had a feeling it was going to happen soon or later anyway, I just wished it hadn't quite happened like it had.
Once Dad left us alone, I crawled onto Ryan's lap. "Sorry," I said, wrapping my arms around his neck. "That was... I don't know... Sort of intense."
"I thought it was great. You, standing up to her like that?" He leaned over so that his lips were next to my ear before whispering, "So hot."
I'm sure my face turned bright red. But I still had a bit of that confidence left, so I took a breath then blurted, "I want to sleep with you."
Ryan burst out laughing. "So blunt. I like it." Then he gently pressed his lips against mine. "And I would love to, too. Just not with your dad just downstairs or the fact that I need to get home soon before my own mom freaks out on me."
I chuckled lightly, leaning my head against his shoulder. "Don't go home. Stay here with me forever."
Even as the words came out of my mouth, I knew that wasn't an option. Having only these couple hours every few days to ourselves was going to have to do for now. I just hoped his mom would calm down soon. I hated seeing how much it's been affecting him, even if he tried his hardest not to show it. I just wanted everyone to be happy.
