A/N I thought I would post this early since the last chapter was so darn short. I promised more excitement so I hope this meets your expectations :) Thank you to everyone who's been reading and voting and all that shabang. I love all of you. To those of you on summer holidays, hope you guys have a good time! I probably won't be updating for the next 2-3 weeks (which I am so very sorry for) so I hope you guys like this chapter.

I've posted a cover of Here Without You by Sam Tsui on the side. I love Sam's covers and this song is so absolutely beautiful and in a strange way, kind of fits with this chapter.

Percy

Chase was late.

I chewed my bottom lip anxiously. The rest of the bridal party was going to arrive soon which meant that the wedding was about to commence. I needed Chase to arrive pronto, stat, now.

I checked my phone for the umpteenth time in the last five minutes. Nothing had changed; no new text had arrived from Chase nor Eric.

Something close to worry began gnawing away at my gut. Every worst case scenario began flashing before my eyes, making my heart rate speed up. I was tempted to start biting my nails again, a habit I'd snapped out of when I was still in grade school, but I forced my hands to stay firmly by my sides. This wasn't the time to start panicking.

"Pops?"

I whirled around to see Evan standing a few metres away. Despite the awkward tension between the two of us lately, I had to admit how dashing he looked in his dark blue suit. Any woman would be lucky to spend the day (or night) with him.

"Hey." I waved.

"Has Chase arrived?"

I shook my head. "But he'll be here soon," I said confidently.

"I'm sure." Evan smiled. He glanced back at the chapel where most people were already seated. One of the ushers, a cousin whose name I couldn't remember, flashed me a flirtatious grin as he stood by the door. I made a face in disgust. He was, like, twelve years old and related to me, for goodness' sakes. Even if he hadn't been a cousin, wasn't I kind of too old for him or something?

The kid blew me a kiss and I shuddered, turning my back on him.

Evan laughed. "Seems like you have an admirer."

"He's a little young for me," I stated.

I felt Evan come up behind me. His breath smelt of mint and something fruity.

"I'm sorry about what I said about Chase," he said. His voice was quiet. "He's a good guy."

I glanced to the side. "It's okay. You're just trying to protect me."

A half-smile turned up the corners of his lips. "I've had my heart broken twice. It completely sucks. I just don't want it happening to you."

I raised my eyebrows at him. "Twice?"

"Once by your mother and once by Jenna."

My jaw fell open. "What? I thought you never liked mum in that way." Not to mention, you're a shitload younger than my mum, I thought, but didn't say out loud.

Chase grinned. "That's a story for another day. Looks like Romeo's here." He tipped his head, his eyes locked on something further up the street. I tore my eyes away from his baby blues. Eric's car was speeding down the road. The vehicle was still too far away for me to see who was behind the wheel, but it wasn't hard to guess who it was.

"Just for the record," Evan's breath tickled the back of my neck. "I never shagged your mum, in case you were wondering."

A crimson blush crept up the base of my neck, and when I turned around to smack Evan's head, he'd already started jogging back into the chapel. He gave me a thumbs-up as he ducked inside For a moment, I was torn between going after him and punching him in the gut, or waiting for Chase in the parking lot. In the end, I thought better of it. I didn't want to be seen abusing my godfather in a place of worship. There were tons of other places to do it than in God's House.
