Suddenly Shagun guided by another Police officers came around the corner. "Oh, Raman! I knew you'd come. You'll explain all this to them. I'm being framed." She glared at Ishita . "And we all know who would do that. Just tell them I had nothing to do with this. Ishita's the real cause of all of this."
Raman turned to the inspector . "Since this woman is not my wife I'm sorry but I don't think my wife and I can be of any further assistance to you."
"I appreciate your coming down to look into this." Gupta didn't blame either one of them for wanting to leave. He could see that Ms Arora was about to unravel and create a scene. "Please enjoy the rest of your holiday."
By the way" Ishita asked the inspector. "What is the penalty for possession of stolen property and attempting to fence stolen property?"
The inspector smiled. "Last I heard at least 10 years."
Raman turned and took Ishita 's hand "Ready to get out of here, Jaan"
Ishita laughed "More than ready. As the two of them walked towards the door came Shagun completely unglued stomping her foot like a child.. "You can't leave me here. I know you love me." As Raman and Ishita kept moving Shagun shrieked louder. But neither one of them looked back.
After going back to the hotel Raman and Ishita decided to walk back to the restaurant for the dinner they had missed earlier. Raman was quiet during dinner. Afterwards Ishita suggested that they walk over to a gazebo that was nearby where a band was playing. She could see the events at the police station were bothering Raman . "Do you want to talk about it?" She asked. "I can see you're upset by what happened."
"Not upset so much as troubled that Shagun's become so deeply disturbed. When I first met her I thought she was a good person. I guess I'm just bothered that she wasted it all."
You have a good heart Raman Bhalla but some people just get off on the wrong path." Ishita said. "And just can't find their way back. Who knows what would have happened to me if you hadn't come along."
Raman laughed. "You mean all those lovely little prejudices you could have pulled off. As your Uncle is fond of saying you could have been fabulously wealthy"
Ishita smiled at him. "But I wouldn't have been nearly as happy as I am with you."
When they reached the gazebo they found several couples dancing in the evening light in front of it. Raman was just about to ask Ishita if she wanted to dance when the band changed what they were playing and started up with a familiar tune
Dil kahin rukta nahi............plays......
Dil kahin rukta nahi
Dil kahin rukta nahi,
Chalta hi jaaye teri ore
Dil meri sunta nahi
Raman grinned, "Haven't heard that in a while." He held out his hand. "Care to dance Mrs. Bhalla ?"
"I'd love to Mr. Bhalla "
Ho..saari fizaaon mein hai,
Mehki hawaon mein hai
Tera aur mera fasana
Ho..jaanu main bhi ye,
Jaane hai tu bhi ye
Jaane ye saara jamana
Ho..kabhi kam na hongi ye chahate
Pal pal badhe, Ye Hai Mohabbatein
"I have a suggestion for the next few days, if you're agreeable. " Raman said. "I still have time before I have to be back in Delhi so we could continue this little holiday and do a few more of the touristy things around here. That should keep us busy during the day."
Ishita thought about it for a moment. "That sounds wonderful but what about the evenings." As if she couldn't guess what Raman had planned from the wicked grin on his face.
"That's easy. I intend to spend every night making mad passionate love to my beautiful wife."
Ishita laughed. "Is that the plan you mentioned earlier. Hmm, I think I could be very agreeable to that." Then she whispered in his ear. "After all we are very good together."
Ye khatti mitthi
Takraar hai yaa pyaar
Ye rutha ruthi
Ye khatti mitthi......
Epilogue
Delhi – 25 Years later
Ishita was sitting at her dressing table sorting thru her jewelry box when she heard giggles behind her. "What are you doing Dadi, Can we help?"
Turning she found her two granddaughters, 4 year old Neha and 3 year old Priya in the doorway. "I was looking for some earrings but you can come help me look."
Both little girls rushed into help, oohing and aahing over each piece. Like their Grandmother they were both found of sparkly things. Neha spotted the gold bracelet with the pretty blue stones first. "Oh, what's this," She held it up. "It's so pretty."
Ishita laughed. "That is something your Dadu bought for me in a little Madras village."
"Is that the time you got lost?" Priya asked. "Dadu told us that as a bedtime story." Priya was very fond of Dadu's stories.
There was a chuckle of laughter from the doorway. Ishita looked up and saw Raman leaning against the door frame, "yes, it was that time." Ishita said then she laughed."But that was also time I had to save your Dadu from a very wicked witch." She caught Ramant's eye and smiled. "Didn't I Dadu ?"
Raman came into the room and leaned down and kissed Ishita on the forehead. "Oh yes, Dadi defiantly saved Dadu in every way that matters.
