Raman and Shagun were married for 1 year, before she leaving him for Ashok. They do not have children. Ishita was engaged to Subbu and he broke the relationship, because he fell in love with another one. He reappeared later because he regretted it, but there Ishita was already married to Raman. Raman and Ishita did not marry out of love. It was a marriage arranged by the parents. Raman had not told her he was divorced, for shame why he was divorced. Then Shagun reappeared and made friends with Ishita. She pretended to have cancer and Ishita stood by her side. One day she was standing in Ishita and Raman's living room and then Raman saw her and was shocked. Ishita introduced her as her sick friend and Raman realized what that meant.
