Shagun Arora hated this little Madras backwater of Mahabalipuram. She much preferred the excitement of Delhi . But sometimes a girl had to do what a girl had to do to survive. If the deal she had went thru she would find herself a very wealthy woman.

"It's really all Raman 's fault" She thought. "If he had just taken me up on my offer I wouldn't have to be doing this."

Shagun imaged herself living in Delhi with the status of being the wife of the best GEO of the year. Then people would have noticed. Those stupid society women would have paid attention to her. "But no, all they could talk about was Ishita and what a wonderful person she was. All Raman could do was sulk around feeling sorry for himself." Shagun wondered where Ishita had gone off to. "Probably found somebody else to leech off of."

Shagun had arrived in Mahabalipuram to make the fencing deal of a lifetime. She had a large collection of stolen jewels and after a little negotiating she had found someone to buy them for a fabulous sum. The only clinker had been coming all the way out here to complete the deal. The buyer said there was less chance of being noticed in a town full of the late summer tourist crowd. "Maybe I'll have to make him pay me a little more just for dragging me out here."

Shagun looked at her watch. She had plenty of time before meeting the buyer. She started to walk along the promenade glancing in some of the shop windows. Suddenly she noticed a very familiar figure a short distance away.

"What in the world is he doing here? Next to making a lot of money this is the best thing that could happen to me." Shagun grinned "Maybe this place isn't so bad after all."

With the goal of taking back what was supposed to be hers, Shagun started down the promenade.
