dance night!

johnny fixed his smokey tie, then putting on his charcoal black blazer. he looked on the mirror, fixing his dirty blonde hair thinking if she'd like it. once he thought he was presentable, he headed downstairs where he saw his mother fixing up documents— possibly the secret divorce papers.

"where ya going?" she asked, smiling.

"just heading to the dance." he responded, smiling back.

"well, good luck! or as the french say, bonne chance!" she said, hugging her son.

he stepped out, taking in the fresh air. he wasn't very nervous about this as he was known as your cliché 'player' of the school, which is why he keeps all the people he dates from his fans unless he sees a big relationship in the future.

"this is your first dance, right?" maddie asked her younger sister as she was lying on her stomach while moving her legs back and forth.

"yeah, pretty much." kenzie replied, looking at herself in her full-body mirror.

"well— not to scare you, but, in our school, there's a secret area where they serve alcohol, and everyone gets drunk. so don't be surprised the next day if you're somehow pregers." maddie said, chuckling. pregers was a term they used when they were younger since they couldn't say pregnant.

"maddie!" kenzie replied, throwing a pillow at her.

a few moments later, the doorbell rang. kenzie asks "do i look presentable?"

"you look great! go get him, tiger!" joked maddie.

kenzie ran down the stairs anxiously as johnny was waiting outside.

"hey sorry—" kenzie spoke, but johnny interrupted.

"you look great." a compliment escaped his lips, examining her body.

"t-thanks. you too," she stuttered nervously.

"are you cold or are you nervous?" he said charmingly, smirking.

"a bit of both." she said, shivering as the cold wind blew again.

"haha, okay. i'll lend you my jacket later since lending jackets is a towards-the-end kind of thing. and clearly, this is just the beginning, ziegler. shall we?" he said, sticking his arm out the same way he did when he was holding dresses out for her.

"i guess we shall," she said, smiling.
