It had been a few weeks and I could tell we were extremely close to the main island. The water was beginning to change from a tropical clear to a cold murky blue, the clouds became gray and numerous, and the air was getting steadily colder.

The cold itself wasn't the problem, or at least it wouldn't have been before the journey. We were all used to colder weather but like anyone we could freeze to death. But now we were to used to tropical weather and it felt colder then ever, and I couldn't even imagine how the people who lived within the tropical climate of this world could even handle it. Wilbur had his fur I suppose.

The biggest kick in the nuts about the situation was Maxwell. Apparently while the bastard was human his nerves didn't register temperature as well as the rest of us, and I can only assume it was because he was never originally human. In fact at this point he's likely what people refer to as a golem, a humanoid creature made from inorganic material. Shadows aren't organic I think. The thing that's annoying me the most about him is he can conjure a giant winter trench coat and was boasting about it.

"You're an asshole." I said as I looked to the horizon.

"What? It's not my fault I have this fluffy, heavy, warm coat." Maxwell said as he leaned against the railing of the ship, his back against the railing.

"No but you enjoy the living hell out of having it while the rest of us freeze."

"Do you expect a refusal?"

"No."

After a few moments of banter and insults I grew excited when I spotted a large shape burst over the horizon. Then I realized I was actually excited to be going back to a giant island full of living trees, hounds, giant one eyed birds, and extremely gigantic monsters spawned from Maxwell's own twisted mind.

"Ah, just smell that depressing air! Just makes you want to dive back into the water, eh?" Maxwell exclaimed as he jumped from the ship and onto the dirt of the main island. His initial weakness from becoming human had passed and he was now he was a bit more enhanced than a normal human but still among the weakest here.

"Well..." I said as I jokingly looked over the side of the boats ramp, which prompted Willow to punch my shoulder. She'd almost fully healed by now, the only thing yet to heal was a few burns.

"If you two are done joking around, we need to go see how our camp has fared while we've been away." Willow said as she prompted us all to follow her with all our supplies.

I have to admit I expected worse. The walls were still standing, the tents were all up, and the firewood was still there if not a little damp.

"Just put the supplies in the storage tent, I'll go see if we ave any spares for the new people." Willow said as she walked off.

As I finished unloading the supplies from the boat I heard rustling from around the corner. I looked as saw that a bush had grown in between two tents, and there was something inside it. I slowly took a few steps closer and pulled out an ax as I looked inside the bush. I was... Surprised to say the least.

The thing that stood before me was Chester but also not Chester. Its legs were blue and its fur was white. I reached my hand inside of it to find not only was its inside cold but there was an eye bone within it.

"Who are you little guy?" I asked, obviously not expecting an answer, as I pet the Chester look alike.

Instead of sitting there and pondering it for hours I just decided to do what any responsible person would do.

"You gave her a creature I just randomly found in a bush?" I asked as I looked at Willow with my arms crossed.

"Yes, I mean if one daughter has a Chester why not another?" I she with a smirk as Whitney chased around her new little companion.

"Because it could be dangerous."

"Maxwell is dangerous and I let you keep him."

"My pet has nothing to do with this." I said as I waved away her joke, to which a displeased Maxwell yelled 'Yeah!' from somewhere in the camp.

My 'responsible' idea was to tell Willow about the new Chester and she'd decided to give him to Whitney as a pet.

"Wilson, I doubt a walking ice box can do much harm. And if it does we can deal with it."

"Fine, but I reserve the right to say I told you so when it does."

"Agreed."

For the next few minutes the two of us watched Whitney and Wendy play with their Chesters. I would have been content with staying there for a while longer had the ground not began to shake as a giant roar pierced the air.
