"What do you mean there's a way to find my sister?" Winona shouted as she held Maxwell by the collar of his shirt.
"T-There's a portal! You just need to find the four pieces of it!" Maxwell said as he tried prying Winona's hands off of his shirt, and failing.
"And that portal will take us to my sister?"
"Well..."
She punched him in the face.
"It doesn't take you right to the Shadow Realm, you have to go through six worlds before that!"
"Six worlds?" I questioned from my seat next to Willow's hammock. Winona had wanted to question Maxwell at the altar but I'd made her wait so the rest of us could have a show.
"Yes... Each world is significantly harder to survive in... And you need to find the four pieces each time..." Maxwell responded as Winona finally threw him against the wall.
"So how do we find these pieces?" Winona asked as she cracked her knuckles.
"Well, I could probably feel their general direction if I focus but otherwise you'll need a divining rod. I'll warn you now though, shadow creatures of all strengths, sizes, and abilities inhabit those worlds." Maxwell said as he straightened his suit.
"Well if we don't want to go through all six worlds how else will we get to Charlie?"
"Well... How much does this little quest mean to you?"
"More than you can imagine." Winona said with a seriousness so strong it silenced everyone in the room.
Maxwell let out a sigh as he outstretched his had and the book from the altar flew into his had.
"If we do find the all four pieces of this world's portal then I may be able to use the Codex Umbra to enhance their power and send us straight to the Shadow Realm. Though that would imply you lot are actually able to find the pieces and even then it would take me a while to figure out the right spell." Maxwell said as he flipped through the Codex Umbra.
"How difficult will finding these things be?" I asked as Willow clutched my hand in a death grip.
"Extremely. Though you should be very well acquainted with this type of portal. You did build the first portal to this world after all." he said with a sly smirk.
I was going to point out how he was the one who tricked me into building the portal but I was quickly turning my attention to Willow breaking my hand.
