Chapter 27: Insanities

I awoke in a void of nothing of darkness. There didn't even seem to be a ground to stand on yet I felt solid matter. I looked around frantically but saw no beginning nor an end to the vast expanse that surrounded me.

"Intriguing isn't it?" a voice said from behind me. I whipped around and saw...

Myself.

"What are you?" I asked as I looked around the new me.

"I'm you. Or well... A more logical you." he said with a nonchalant tone.

I decided to actually examine the other me, just as he had visibly started examining me.

He looked like a younger version of me. The same basic clothes, the vest, dress shirt, dress pants, fingerless gloves, and dress shoes. Except he was also wearing a long lab coat with goggles propped up on his forehead. I used to wear that outfit when I was doing long experiments back before I was brought here.

"So... You're a young me?" I asked as the two of us put out hands on our chins in thought.

"Technically yes and no." said yet another voice. This time when I looked around I saw me in the same clothes except in a much better condition.

"Who are you?!" I nearly yelled.

"Me but filthier." 

"I still don't quite know who you are either."

"Yeah, you guys just can't seem to get the point across."

"God dammit..." I sighed as I turned around and froze for a bit. This new me was... Exactly like me, save for the demented smile plastered on his face and the blood covering him.

"Such harsh language! And directed at yourself!" the blood covered me said with a dramatic gesture.

"All three of you either shut up or explain who you are!" I yelled as I pushed the three of them away.

"Must we spoil the fun?"

"This is hardly amusing, let alone fun."

"Shut it, smart ass."

"I hate this more than previously anticipated..."

"It's not healthy to hate yourself."

"I disagree."

"Some one please explain what's going on here!" I exclaimed as I brushed the blood covered me away, since he was trying to poke me.

"Heh! We're not going to just tell you like that! You need to go through a rigorous set of trials to-"

"We're you're insanities."

The other two just gawked at the lab coat wearing me, while said me just looked on with a face void of emotion.

"Come on!"

"Way to ruin the fun..."

"That answer didn't clear anything up!"

"Well since he spoiled it we may as well spill the rest..."

"Please do."

"Well, as he said, we're your insanities. Meaning that the three stages of your life have different forms of insanity."

"I'm your insanity from when you lived in the normal world, the scientist part of you."

"I'm your insanity from between your arrival in this world to when you met the others."
