I was frozen with fear for a solid minute, everyone was. It wasn't winter, if anything we'd arrived at the beginning of spring, so it's not Deerclops. That means it's Goose... Or Moose. Moose Goose. With that realization I calmed down a bit, since Moose Goose is a little easier to kill than Deerclops.
"Everyone! Gather your weapons! There's a giant nearby!" I yelled as I jumped up.
As everyone was scrambling around in a hurry I stopped Whitney and said "Alright, firecracker, you need to stay here and hide in your tent."
"But Papa!" Whitney protested.
"No. Go hide." I said sternly but even I couldn't keep my face from showing my concern.
She nodded and ran away, Snow Chester not far behind.
Then I pulled out my axes and had Willow cover the serrated part of the blades with the flammable sap.
We all ran towards the sound of roaring, which turned out to be extremely loud honking, as one giant group. As we were running though Maxwell ran beside me.
"Uh, Wilson..." Maxwell said as he flipped through the Codex Umbra.
"What?" I responded with annoyance.
"There may be some changes to the giant."
"What?"
"After you and your friends defeated Deerclops and revived the mime I changed a few things about the giants."
"Like what?"
"Well... If one kills you... It's irreversible..."
"What?!"
"I was mad when you defied me and revived Wuss so I made it so that you couldn't anymore."
"Why?!"
"Clearly I didn't think I'd ever have to fight it!"
"Any other changes?!"
"No."
"Good."
At first I was confused as to where Moose Goose was. There was honking and thumping coming from this area but there was nothing near it. It was actually the clearing that was left behind when we defeated Deerclops. Then I saw it. There was a black smoke rising from behind a cluster of trees as Moose Goose phased into existence.
"Spread out!" I yelled as I lit the sap on my axes on fire and waited for the giant to finish coming into reality.
Once Moose Goose was good and ready he used his antlers to tear through the trees standing between him and his prey. He then looked around between all of us and fixed a glare towards me, probably since I'd killed him three times prior, and charged.
I barely managed to dodge the antlered avian as he barreled past me and crashed into some trees. I threw one flaming as into his side while he gathered his bearings. As he honked in pain he flapped his giant wings and jumped into the air and attempted to land on top of me.
I would've been crushed had one of Maxwell's shadow clones not pushed me out of the way and taken the blow for me.
"Good boy." I said as I ran away from the giant. "If we survive I'll give you a doggy biscuit."
"I will throw you under him." Maxwell said as he summoned another clone.
"Heh... Since when do these things hold a grudge?"
"Every year prior, you were just the only one for them to fight."
"Fair enough."
Before Moose Goose could refocus his attention on me multiple darts came shooting through the trees. Wendy aimed her poison darts for the giants neck, Willow aimed her fire darts for the head, and Wickerbottom and Wilbur shot their regular darts wherever.
